The cumulative output of new energy vehicles exceeded 3 million units

Data show that in November, China's macroeconomic operation was generally stable, a series of policies and measures to strengthen energy supply security, stabilize market prices and other policy measures continued to show results, the power supply tension has eased, raw material prices have declined, the manufacturing boom has expanded, and the non-manufacturing industry has maintained a stable recovery. The automotive industry has worked hard to overcome the impact of tight chip supply, scattered epidemic outbreaks, policy and regulatory adjustments, etc., and the production and marketing situation is generally slightly better than expected at the beginning of the month.

Judging from the situation in the month, automobile production and sales in November continued to decline year-on-year. In terms of different models, although passenger cars are still affected by the lack of chip supply and the outbreak of the epidemic in scattered points, the monthly production and sales have risen month-on-month, and the operating trend is basically the same as that in October; commercial vehicles are affected by the switching of national SIX emission regulations, the consumption wait-and-see brought about by the adjustment of the "blue card light truck" policy, and the continuous reduction of industry dividends, and other factors, production and sales still show a sharp decline year-on-year, and the operating trend is weaker than in October.

Although the downward pressure on automobile production and sales is relatively large, there is still no shortage of bright spots in the industry. First, the market demand for new energy vehicles is still strong, production and sales continue to reach a new high, the cumulative output has exceeded 3 million, sales are close to 3 million, the cumulative sales penetration rate from January to November increased to 12.7%, at present, consumer acceptance of new energy vehicles is getting higher and higher, the new energy vehicle market has shifted from policy-driven to market-driven; second, this month's automobile exports also continued to maintain rapid growth year-on-year; third, the share of Chinese brand passenger cars has maintained growth for 8 consecutive months year-on-year.

The problem of tight chip supply still exists

In November, production and sales of automobiles totaled 2.585 million units, respectively, of which actual sales were better than the forecast at the beginning of the month. From the perspective of growth rate changes, production and sales increased by 10.9% and 8.1% respectively, down 9.3% and 9.1% year-on-year, respectively, the decline in production was 0.5 percentage points larger than in October, and the decline in sales volume was narrowed by 0.3 percentage points compared with October. Compared with the same period in 2019, production fell by 0.5% year-on-year, and sales volume increased by 2.5% year-on-year, of which the output growth rate turned from positive to negative compared with October, and the sales growth rate increased by 1 percentage point compared with October. In December last year, the level of automobile production and sales ranked the highest in the whole year, at 2.83 million units, and the problem of insufficient supply of superimposed chips still exists, so the automotive industry is still facing great pressure in December this year.

From January to November, automobile production and sales reached 23.172 million units and 23.489 million units, up 3.5% and 4.5% year-on-year, respectively, and the growth rate continued to decline by 1.9 percentage points from January to October. Compared with the same period in 2019, production and sales increased by 0.5% and 1.5% respectively year-on-year, the output growth rate fell by 0.1 percentage points compared with January to October, and the sales volume growth rate increased by 0.1 percentage points compared with January to October.

On the whole, automobile production and sales in November fell year-on-year; passenger car production and sales fell year-on-year, luxury cars continued to grow; commercial vehicle production and sales fell sharply year-on-year; new energy vehicle production and sales both exceeded 400,000 units; The market share of Chinese brand passenger cars continued to grow year-on-year; the market concentration of key enterprise groups was lower than that of the same period; automobile exports maintained rapid growth year-on-year; and the economic growth rate of key enterprises continued to decline.

Looking forward to December, with the macroeconomic stability and improvement, the demand for automobile consumption remains stable. However, there is still uncertainty on the supply side, the problem of tight chip supply still exists, and the orderly use of electricity in various places and the domestic scattered epidemic at the end of the year have increased the potential industrial chain supply risk of the automobile industry. Coupled with the impact of high base factors in the same period last year, the pressure on automobile production and sales to maintain stability is still large. Comprehensive judgment, the annual automobile production and sales will be slightly higher than the same period last year.
