In order to get revenge on her ex-husband, Wu Li (not her real name) chose to take her son to another city about 80 kilometers away and abandoned him, knowing that he was young and incapable of living independently. Knowing that he might be hit by a car and being trafficked, she did not care about his safety afterwards. Three months after the act of abandonment, Wu Li was arrested by the public security organs.
On December 15, the first-instance judgment of the case published on the judgment document network showed that the Tongzhou District People's Court of Nantong City sentenced defendant Wu Li to 10 months in prison for the crime of abandonment.
After the court trial found that on the afternoon of August 7, 2020, due to family conflicts, he held a grudge against her ex-husband, and in order to achieve revenge, he took his 2-year-old son away from her ex-husband's home in Rugao City, Jiangsu Province.
At about 7 o'clock the next day, she abandoned it in a community in Tongzhou District, Nantong City, nearly 80 kilometers away. At about 7:50 a.m., his son was discovered by the masses and sent to the public security organs. The public security organs unsuccessfully searched for his biological parents and sent them to the Tongzhou District Social Welfare Institute in Nantong City on August 12. Three months later, the police took him out of the welfare home and handed him over to his father.
On October 24, Wu Li was arrested by the police of the Passenger Transport Police Station of the Public Transportation Security Bureau of the Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau. Later, because he violated the regulations on release on guarantee pending further investigation, he was chased by the public security organs on the Internet.
On May 12, 2021, he was arrested by the Qiantang New District Bureau of the Hangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau and arrested, and after arriving at the case, he truthfully confessed his criminal facts.
The Tongzhou District People's Court of Nantong City held that Wu Li had the obligation to support her son but abandoned him and refused to raise him, the circumstances were heinous, and her behavior had constituted the crime of abandonment and should be punished according to law.
Wu Li truthfully confessed her crime after arriving at the case, which is a confession and can be given a light punishment according to law. They voluntarily admit guilt and accept punishment, and sign a plea affidavit, which may be treated leniently in accordance with law.
