However, in the last ten minutes of her life, there was nothing unusual, just to go to the temple to relax, and her name was Zeng Zhaoyi.
Zeng Zhaoyi was the first female archaeologist in China and the first female museum director in China, and was a very remarkable woman. Zeng Zhaoyi was born in 1909, she is a descendant of zeng guofan, a major minister of the Qing dynasty, and is a famous queen. The Zeng family to Zeng Zhaoyi's generation, is still full of talents, the brothers and sisters in the family are the elite of the society, and have made countless contributions to the society. However, shortly after Zeng Zhaoyi's birth, the family suffered changes, and the family fell in the middle, fortunately, this did not affect Zeng Zhaoyi's good education from childhood, surrounded by talents, and she also grew up in this atmosphere. The founder of this girls' school was Zeng Zhaoyi's cousin Zeng Baoli, Who was also a strong woman at that time, very excellent, unmarried all her life, and has been fighting for girls' education, and finally founded a girls' school. Zeng Zhaoyi once asked her sister why she did not get married, and Zeng Baoli replied that she wanted to help more people. Perhaps influenced by her sister, or perhaps for some other reason, Zeng Zhaoyi has never been married all her life, and she has taken her sister's words as her life motto, and has been proving it with practical actions all her life.
After graduating from the girls' school, Zeng Zhaoyi walked out of Changsha, and in order to see the world more, she entered the National Central University in Nanjing, studying the Department of Chinese. Zeng Zhaoyi became a prominent figure in school because of her excellent grades, she was a very proud student of the teacher, following the teacher to study oracle bones, gold text, and learn ancient Chinese history. And Zeng Zhaoyi is also very prominent, because he writes well and good words, and is known as the contemporary Li Qingzhao. Slowly, Zeng Zhaoyi became interested in archaeology, and in 1935 she finally decided to pursue her dream of studying archaeology, she wanted to re-examine the world and learn more about history.
Later, she went to the University of London to study archaeology at her own expense, and everything went smoothly, but in 1938, when she learned that the motherland had fallen into war, she desperately returned to China and joined the preparatory office of the Central Museum, and later made many contributions to the cause of China's War of Resistance. During this period, Zeng Zhaoyi did not give up the dream of archaeology, and was not afraid to go to the archaeological site every day to investigate, making great contributions to the protection of cultural relics. In the era of war and chaos, it was precisely with women like Zeng Zhaoyi that China's cultural and educational undertakings continued to develop.
After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Zeng Zhaoyi returned to Nanjing, participated in various activities, organized the construction of the main hall of the Central Museum, and was a strong woman with full ability. In order to be able to concentrate on the study of archaeology, Zeng Zhaoyi was actually influenced by his cousin, after all, his cousin also exchanged his lifelong happiness for achievements in women's education, so Zeng Zhaoyi was also unmarried for life and dedicated his life to the cause of archaeology.
Because of the special family history, Zeng Zhaoyi later encountered an unprecedented blow, and many other family members, such as her brother and nephew who had been relying on her before, were sent to various places for labor reform, and since then they have lost news and their whereabouts are unknown. Zeng Zhaoyi watched as one relative after another around him was tormented, but he had no way to do anything about it. For a long time, she suffered from depression, high tension every day, did not eat well and did not sleep well, and she chose to take her life lightly under the exhaustion.
In the end, Zeng Zhaoyi chose a windy and sunny afternoon, climbed to the top of the tower and jumped, ending his life. Zeng Zhaoyi has made many contributions to Chinese archaeology, and has also had a great impact on our current development, but decades have passed, her name has long been forgotten, few people know Zeng Zhaoyi's name, but the grass and trees of the Linggu Pagoda and the cultural relics of the museum have all had her mark.
