SA: 5G communications will change the value of cars, benefiting consumers, automakers and more

IT House December 15 news, today research institute Strategy Analytics published an article, introduced the 5G communication technology to the automotive industry changes. A new SA study for Avanci found that the introduction of 5G technology brings a transformative value proposition, which is particularly important because almost all cars sold in Europe, the United States and China are connected.

Roger Lanctot, director of connected mobility services at Strategy Analytics, said: "5G connectivity will enable automakers to retain or increase the after-sales value of cars, thereby changing the way the residual value of cars is calculated. This, in turn, affects the economics of leasing, as well as the market value of new and used cars. ”

At the same time, 5G connectivity will directly help and support the development of advanced driver assistance systems that can help cars avoid collisions while facilitating the operation of autonomous vehicles. Over time, 5G connected cars will generate sales revenue at a faster rate, accounting for an increasing share of shipments.

IT House understands that SA reports that once all cars are equipped with 5G, automakers will be able to save $40 billion a year in warranty costs; consumers will save $32 billion a year in leasing/loan fees; and dealers will increase annual revenue at the point of sale by $24 billion. These savings outweigh the societal benefits of reducing collisions and emissions, which will also be billions of dollars worldwide.
