Southern Song Dynasty, The True Calligraphy of Daochong, 38.3 × 47.3 cm, was composed in the 7th year of Chunyou (1247). Kyoto National Museum, Japan, portrait number: C0085134, column number: TB-2498.

This inkblot is believed to have been a demented Daoist Chong reading the true handwriting of the Great Hui Sect and the Monk of the Caotang and commenting on what he had done. Among the true works of the two sages, one describes the righteousness of brotherhood and the other teaches the affection of father and son. In this inkblot, the idiot Dao Chong discusses the ineffable wonders between father and son and brother according to the propositions of the two sages, hoping to warn the world. The "Ding Mo" in the inscription is chunyou 7 years (1247), which is the inkblot of the 79th year of the obsessive Dao Chong.

Demented Daochong (1169--1250), also spelled Demented, commonly known as Xun, was a native of Wuxin (Sichuan) Changjiang. With the Dharma of the Secret Temple Xianjie, Cao Yuan Daosheng participated in Zen and followed his Dharma. After passing through Jiaxing Tianning Temple, Jiankang Jiangshan Taiping Xingguo Temple, Fuzhou Xuefeng Mountain Chongsheng Temple, he was appointed abbot of Si Ming Tong Temple, and also lived in Ashoka Temple. He later presided over the Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou, opened the Fahua Temple in Wuxing, and again accepted the order of abbot Lin'an Trail Mountain. Together with the Buddhist Zen master, he is known as the Zen Master of the Southern Song Dynasty.
