At the same time, Toyota Motor also said that it will invest 4 trillion yen ($35 billion) by 2030 to produce 30 pure electric vehicles.

In addition to the release of new vehicles, Toyota has also continued to invest in hydrogen fuel cell vehicle research and development and power battery production, of which it plans to invest 2 trillion yen ($17.6 billion) in battery production by 2030, up from the previously announced 1.5 trillion yen.

At present, the electric vehicle market is growing rapidly, and although the global automotive market has shrunk by one-sixth in 2020, the number of newly registered electric vehicles has increased by 41%. Based on the good market prospects for electric vehicles, President Akio Toyoda said that by 2030, Toyota aims to sell 3.5 million pure electric vehicles per year, equivalent to about one-third of current global sales.
