BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Academy of Engineering, Clarivate and Higher Education Press jointly released the "Global Engineering Frontiers 2021" report in Chinese and English in Beijing on the 14th, and a total of 186 engineering frontier projects were selected in 9 major areas divided by the 9 faculties of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, including 93 research frontiers such as "underwater unmanned vehicles" and 93 development frontiers such as "reusable space-to-earth round-trip aircraft".

"Global Engineering Frontiers 2021" selects the annual engineering research and development frontiers in nine fields: mechanical and transportation engineering, information and electronic engineering, chemical metallurgy and material engineering, energy and mining engineering, civil and hydraulic conservancy and construction engineering, environmental and textile engineering, agriculture, medicine and health, and engineering management. According to the global engineering frontier 2021 report, the "reusable space-to-space round-trip vehicle" is a reusable space launch vehicle that can freely cross the atmosphere to perform space missions. With the expansion of the scale of human space activities, such as the deployment of low-orbit satellite constellations, the construction of space stations and the execution of frequent deep space exploration missions, the demand for low-cost space transport systems in various countries has become increasingly strong, and reusability is the most effective way to reduce the cost of space transport.
