On December 14, Toyota announced plans to invest $35 billion in electric vehicle development and sell 3.5 million electric vehicles per year by 2030.
Toyota said it will launch 30 electric vehicles (pure electric, plug-in hybrid, hydrogen fuel and ordinary hybrid) by 2030, and the Lexus brand will become a pure electric brand.
At the previous Shanghai Auto Show, Toyota showed off the e-TNGA platform and launched a new pure electric SUV bZ4X, and Toyota's future mass-produced bz series models will be built on this basis.
At the same time, Toyota Motor China Chairman and General Manager Tada Tatsuro said that the bZ pure electric exclusive series of models has planned a total of 7 models, of which 5 models will be introduced to the Chinese market in the future. In terms of pure electric models, Toyota and Lexus will have 10 EV models in China by 2025.
However, before that, some media revealed that Toyota will launch a new electric model in the Chinese market, using BYD's core technology, and the two have established automobile companies.
For the choice of Toyota, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu said that it can achieve the goal of landing two to three years in advance for Toyota's electric vehicles.
