Zhou Hongyi: The digital city may be one of the first scenes to embrace the metaverse

"Digital cities may be one of the first scenarios to embrace the metaverse, which will fundamentally change the way cities are managed, improving management capabilities and efficiency." On December 14, the 2021 Shanghai Digital Innovation Conference was officially opened, and Zhou Hongyi, founder and chairman of 360 (601360.SH, hereinafter referred to as "360") Group, delivered a keynote speech on "Building Digital Security and Escorting Urban Digitalization".

Zhou Hongyi pointed out that in the digital era, cities are no longer facing simple security issues such as computer security and network security, and the biggest challenge is digital security. The higher the degree of digitization of the city, the greater the security challenges and the greater the need to strengthen the construction of the security system. 360 solves digital security problems for cities, helps cities build "5 1s" digital security bases, that is, 1 supercomputing center with security brain as the core, 1 urban security research institute, 1 digital security industry base, 1 set of security operation service system, and 1 security company, to help the digital development of the city.

It is reported that the conference was hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and the Shanghai Putuo District People's Government, and hosted by 360 Government and Enterprise Security Group, Taopu Smart Innovation City, and China-Israel (Shanghai) Innovation Park. Leaders of Shanghai And Putuo District, together with well-known experts and scholars such as Wang Jian, Qian Xuhong, Tan Jianrong, Chu Junhao, etc., conducted in-depth exchanges and prospects on the city's "digital innovation".

Build a digital security system and contribute four major values to the digital development of the city

This year is the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and accelerating digital development and building digital has become the main theme in China. Zhou Hongyi said that the digital city is one of the core scenarios of digitalization, and the construction of digital city has become an important engine to promote the high-quality development of the city. In essence, the digital transformation of cities is to build a digital twin of the city, that is, to guide reality with virtuality, empower the physical world with digital space, and form a digital twin closed loop, which may be one of the first scenes to embrace the metaverse.

However, while digitalization makes urban governance "smarter", it may also make urban security more "fragile". The construction of a digital security system has extraordinary significance for the development of digital cities, and can bring four aspects of value, namely to ensure the security of the digital economy, so that the digital economy will become a new engine for the high-quality development of the city; to protect the security of industrial digitalization, to promote the upgrading of urban industries, so that the gold content of GDP is higher; to protect the security of the digital society, to enhance urban service capabilities, to improve the level of urban operation and management, so that the people have more sense of gain and happiness; to ensure the safety of the entire digital city. Protect the security of digital cities such as digital government, smart transportation, and smart communities.

Zhou Hongyi concluded that digital cities have three major characteristics: everything is programmable, everything must be interconnected, big data drives business, in the final analysis, it is a software-defined city, and the entire city will be built on software. Everything is programmable means that vulnerabilities are everywhere, and the result of everything being interconnected is to open up the virtual world and the physical world, so that the attacks that only appeared in the virtual world in the past can penetrate into the real world and transform into physical harm, and the big data-driven business means that once the data is attacked, the business will stop, causing serious economic losses and social consequences.

In the process of digital development of cities, new digital scenarios including critical infrastructure, industrial Internet, Internet of Vehicles, energy Internet, digital finance, smart medical care, digital government, and smart city will be produced. In this case, the urban digitalization is no longer facing simple security issues such as computer security and network security, but is upgraded to complex and new digital security challenges such as big data security, cloud security, Internet of Things security, new terminal security, network communication security, supply chain security, and application security.

Build a "5 1" digital security base, and help the city establish a digital security system like a hospital

In the face of the complex security challenges of the digital age, traditional security is still a vassal of informatization in the guiding ideology, continuing the idea of selling goods, without top-level design, relying on a single product or a single product to continuously pile up, staying at the level of fragmented products, forming a systematized solution, and unable to cope with new challenges.

Therefore, urban security needs to reshape network security with digital thinking and establish systematic security solutions based on systems thinking. Zhou Hongyi stressed that in the face of complex security challenges, it is necessary to shift from fragmented products to a digital security system with security big data as the core, realize unified perception and overall co-defense through large connections, and can be easily copied and expanded to various digital scenarios to quickly respond to new and changing security challenges.

In the past 16 years of exploration and practice, 360 has focused on the cultivation of practical security capabilities, with a cumulative investment of more than 20 billion yuan, harvesting the world's largest security big data. It has created a team of the world's top network offensive and defensive experts including 200 elites and more than 3800 people. Through the analysis of security big data by security experts, it has formed a unique global attack knowledge base. Based on this, 360 aggregates the full-dimensional and full-time data of the whole network, establishes a set of big data analysis platform for capturing APT, and forms the prototype of the 360 cloud security brain, which can establish a global perspective of the attack behavior from the big data, see the whole picture of the network attack behavior, and help the country solve the "card neck" problem of "seeing" APT attacks.

Zhou Hongyi said that based on the core security capabilities cast in 16 years, 360 has formed a new tactics and new framework for digital cities, and solved digital security problems for cities by helping cities build "5 1s" digital security bases, that is, 1 supercomputing center with security brain as the core, 1 urban security research institute, 1 digital security industry base, 1 security operation service system, and 1 security company to help urban digital development.

Zhou Hongyi likened this set of practices to building a "digital hospital", like building a hospital, it is necessary to first build a security infrastructure, rely on the 360 cloud security brain to build a local security brain in the city, and land a local security company, dispatch security experts, provide continuous operation and services, and ultimately help the city cultivate a capability system to deal with digital security risks, provide cities with water, electricity, and gas-like network security basic empowerment services, and improve the overall digital security level of the city.

It is reported that at present, this new framework has been implemented in the security brain and safety infrastructure cluster of more than 10 cities such as Shanghai, Chongqing, Tianjin, Qingdao and Suzhou.
