Enter the internet age

Many people install home cameras

But it was something that was meant to protect security

However, there are many hidden dangers due to weak passwords and other issues

Recently, the cyber security brigade of the Pingliangjingchuan County Public Security Bureau in Gansu Province successfully cracked a case of illegal control of computer information systems, in which the suspects illegally controlled more than 200 camera permissions, involving nearly 1,000 videos and photos of citizens' privacy. In the interrogation room of the case-handling center of the Jingchuan County Public Security Bureau, in the face of interrogation by the police, Li said:

With a boring life coupled with living in virtuality all day, obscene videos can no longer satisfy my desires. Peeking into other people's privacy has become the thing that excites me the most.

According to Li Mou's account, in early April 2021, when he was playing a game, a strange player sent him a private message: "There is a stimulating video, do you want it, can satisfy all your desires." ”

It's exciting, where you want to see, there's where, giving you a different feeling.

The other party's words wrapped around Li's heart like a magic spell, making Li fall into it and make it difficult to extricate himself.

From the beginning of April 2021 to the case of Li Mou, he has purchased nearly 200 camera control permissions five times, logged in more than 7500 times, and lasted for more than 400 hours.

He also noted the camera as "bathroom", "husband and wife", "hotel", "sale of living room" and other names that are easy to identify.

According to Li Mou, the camera control authority he uses is purchased by spending money, and the other is obtained by exchanging resources in his hands with others.

Through evidence collection, the police found that the cameras he controlled covered a wide range of places, including homes, hospitals, hotels, beauty salons, dormitories and other places.

On November 19, the Jingchuan police finally successfully arrested Li's upper line Lei.

After interrogation, Lei confessed that the webcam control authority he sold to Li was obtained by scanning the webcam through software.

Most of the successful scans are due to the use of the initial password or the existence of weak passwords.

In the face of interrogation by the police, Lei said.

At present, the criminal suspects Li Mou and Lei Mou have been criminally detained by the Jingchuan County Public Security Bureau according to law for the crime of illegally controlling computer information systems, and the case is still under further investigation. "Net Net 2021" Reminder:

Cameras that use initial passwords, weak passwords, or passwords that have not been changed for a long time are easily invaded, which will not only lead to the leakage of their own privacy, but also may lead to the occurrence of criminal cases such as extortion and money fraud.

1. Set complex passwords and change them frequently. Many people buy a camera to keep the initial password, which is very insecure! It is best to change to a complex combination of passwords (e.g., numbers + uppercase and lowercase letters + special symbols) and make periodic changes to avoid being cracked.

2. Connect to Wi-Fi in WPA2 encrypted format. It is recommended that users try to connect to a network in A WPA2 encrypted format when using home cameras, so as to have an extra layer of protection.

3. Upgrade the camera in time. Once many users start using the camera, they will never upgrade the product software or firmware again, which is also a security risk. Please follow the instructions of the merchant to update the camera program and upgrade the firmware in time to prevent the risk of intrusion due to software and hardware factors.
