According to reports, since the opening of the Dubai World Expo, the China Pavilion has taken "Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind - Innovation and Opportunity" as the theme, through diversified exhibition displays, online and offline interactive experiences, and wonderful economic and trade activities, to promote the "Belt and Road" initiative and spread wonderful Chinese stories to audiences around the world.

The theme of the Shanghai Day event is "Innovation and Cooperation, Digital Intelligence Empowerment, and Promoting the Digital Transformation of Cities", focusing on Shanghai's achievements in scientific and technological innovation and digital transformation and application achievements, and promoting Chinese and foreign enterprises to use the Expo platform to expand exchanges and cooperation. Relying on the digital exhibition platform, the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade launched the "Exhibition on the Cloud" at the Shanghai Day event of the China Pavilion, showing Shanghai's practical exploration in digital city, smart city construction and management, as well as the improvement of digital technology on the city's business environment and citizens' lives. 54 representative science and technology innovation enterprises in Shanghai brought 296 of the latest exhibits to the exhibition, covering artificial intelligence, biomedicine, new energy and new materials and green environmental protection, mobile payment, fashion consumption and other fields.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Expo 2020 Dubai has been postponed from 1 October to 31 March 2022.
