On December 13, according to Taiwan media reports, yesterday the world's leading mobile phone lens manufacturer Daliguang confirmed that it has filed a lawsuit in the Northern California court in the United States to sue the 5G smartphone sold by Motorola Mobility LLC, a subsidiary of Lenovo Group, for infringing six optical lens patents owned by Daliguang.

Daliguang was reluctant to comment on this, saying only that the move was to defend the company's intellectual property rights. The industry interpretation believes that this is the first time that Daliguang has filed a lawsuit against Chinese mainland brands in the patent war launched by Daliguang in the past eight years. In recent years, mainland supply chain manufacturers have been pressing for orders step by step, and Daliguang's initiative to launch a patent war this time is of great significance.

It is understood that since the beginning of this year, Daliguang for the patent war, has collected the market of various brands of models dismantled and analyzed, before going to the United States to sue, Daliguang has repeatedly reminded Lenovo Group of infringement through legal procedures, however, Lenovo Group still continues to sell suspected infringing mobile phone products.

In response to Motorola's alleged infringement, Daliguang cited the Motorola One 5G Ace smartphone as an example in the indictment document, pointing out that the mobile phone lens system consists of multiple components, including the rear main lens and the rear ultra-wide angle lens. According to the complaint, the lens assembly contained in the Motorola One 5G Ace infringed six patents of Da liguang.

Headquartered in Illinois, usa, Motorola Mobility Technologies, a subsidiary of Lenovo Group, was acquired by Google in 2012 and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lenovo Group in 2014.

According to reports, Daliguang has never lost in many patent wars in the past eight years. In 2013, under the leadership of Daliguang CEO Lin Enping, he launched a patent war for the first time, filing a lawsuit against Taiwan's peer Yujing Optoelectronics and the global mobile phone brand leader Samsung Electronics, accusing it of patent infringement; in 2019, it launched a patent infringement lawsuit against the American computer brand HP (HP) and its suppliers Advanced Optoelectronics and Xinju Boot, and the patent war extended from mobile phones to the battlefield of laptops. 、

In the previous related litigation, Daliguang finally settled with Samsung, and then Daliguang successfully obtained Samsung orders to make up the last territory of the global mobile phone market; and the lawsuit between Daliguang and Yujing Optoelectronics was rumored to be settled at the end of 2016 under the coordination of Apple; Daliguang sued HP supplier Advanced Optoelectronics and other battles have finally been settled, and Daliguang has further become the single largest legal person shareholder of Advanced Optoelectronics through private placement, holding 15.2% of the shares.

Taiwan's Economic Daily said that for Da Liguang, each attack "does not fight a battle that is not certain." Daliguang turned passive into active this time, directly launched a patent war against the mainland mobile phone brand manufacturer Lenovo Group, whether it can win again, the market is highly concerned.
