Huang Wei was the commander of the Kuomintang Twelfth Corps and a die-hard loyalist of Chiang Kai-shek. In 1948, the Twelve Corps was surrounded in a double pile. The Gongdelin War Criminals Management Center was remodeled on the basis of the former Beijing No. 2 Prison before and after the founding of New China, and was specially used to detain and reform war criminals. Once, Huang Wei saw a book on the book list "How Steel is Made", thought it was a scientific book on metallurgy, and bought it. But after getting it, he found that it was a revolutionary novel, and Huang Wei felt bored after reading it, and even tore the book to use it as toilet paper. The incident caused an uproar among the Kuomintang war criminals, and it was the management who took the initiative to take responsibility for letting the matter pass.

In addition to fighting with his former colleagues, Huang Wei often provoked Japanese war criminals who had been reformed in Gongdelin. At that time, several Japanese war criminals received special care due to physical reasons, and Huang Wei was very dissatisfied after seeing it, saying: "Why do we sweat and work, but the little devils are wandering around?" So he instigated a lot of war criminals who were not accustomed to the Japanese to make trouble, and it was useless to let the managers do their work, and later he could only separate the Chinese and Japanese war criminals.
All these things can be seen that Huang Wei is a "thorn in the head" in Gongdelin. Not only did he not transform himself, but he also had a very bad impact. But even so, the people's government showed him extremely lenient. Huang Wei's health is not good, and there are five kinds of tuberculosis entangled in various organs, the light can make people extremely painful, and the heavy ones are fatal. Later, Huang Wei became a commissioner of literature and history of the Literature and History Research Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, dedicated to recording China's modern military history.
