Wang Wei had political ambitions in his youth, and during the tang xuanzong period, he held many official positions, and the positions were not low, such as right shiyi, inspector of imperial history, and hexi Jiedushi envoy judge. Li Xian, the brother of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, was originally the crown prince, because Li Longji's merit and prestige were greater, so Li Xian ceded the crown prince's throne to Li Longji, and he himself was crowned the Prince of Ning. Although this person's status was inferior to that of Tang Xuanzong, he could also be called "eight thousand years old" and "nine thousand years old".
According to the "Benshi Poem", Li Xian's favorite geisha has dozens of people, and all of them are perfect. And that wasn't enough, he also had a crush on someone else's wife. There is a couple selling cakes next to the left side of the palace, how this man looks, I don't know, but at least it will not be worse than Wu Dalang. But his wife was extraordinary, with a slender figure, ice muscles and jade bones, bright eyes and bright teeth, especially a pair of eyes, Gu Pan was affectionate. Soon, this special object was taken in by King Ning. Of course, a gentleman loves sex and has a way to get it, and Li Xian is also a cultural person who loves art, and he does not hesitate to spend a lot of money to get the wife of the cake seller to the palace and spoil her with high specifications.
Fast forward a year, Li Xian found that the wife of the cake seller always did not smile, one day, Li Xian asked her: "Do you miss your husband who sells cakes?" She was silent. So Li Xian summoned the cake seller and asked them to meet the couple. The wife looked at her husband, who had not been seen for a year, but her eyes were in tears, and she did not dare to cry in public. At that time, there were more than ten guests in the Ning Palace, all of whom were famous literati at that time, among whom Wang Wei was also there. When everyone sees this situation, they are all sad. Li Xian asked everyone to write poems, and Wang Wei was the first to write this poem "Lady Xi".
Lady Xi is one of the four beauties of the Spring and Autumn Period, and was originally the wife of the monarch of the Country of Shi. After the king of Chu destroyed the kingdom, he took her for himself and pampered her. Although Lady Xi gave birth to two sons for King Wen of Chu, she never spoke a word to King Chu. The King of Chu asked her why? She replied, "I am a woman and a second husband, and even if I cannot die, she will speak again!" ”。 The poem uses the allusion of Mrs. Interest to endorse the wife of the bread seller.
"Don't be spoiled in the present, unforgettable in the old days", don't think that the King of Chu is very fond of me now, I will forget the kindness of my former husband to me. At that time, Mrs. Xi sacrificed herself to save the whole country from being destroyed, but in her heart she would never give in. Wang Wei hinted here to Li Xian, the King of Ning, that even if you can occupy the body of the bread seller's wife, you will never be able to occupy her heart.
"Seeing the flowers full of tears, not sharing the words of the King of Chu", even if I see the beautiful flowers in the garden, my mood will not be happy, I am just crying for my suffering, I am not willing to say a word to the King of Chu. For a weak woman, silence may be the best resistance. Wang Wei here ironically advises Li Xian that no matter what method you use, you will not win the favor of the wife of the cake seller, she is like Mrs. Xi, she will not be lost in glory and wealth, and she will express her spirit of resistance in her own way.
Through a 20-word narrative, Wang Wei's poem borrows ancient irony and implicitly expresses his sympathy for the wife of the cake seller, and he hopes that Li Xian will not be like the King of Chu, bullying the weak, a person, even if it is a weak woman, the soul is difficult to conquer. At the same time, the poems also reflect Wang Wei's dislike of the darkness of the officialdom and his unwillingness to conform to the world.
This poem also directly helped the poor couple, and after Li Xian read this poem, "it is the baker who returns to the baker and makes the final wish." The couple was able to break through the mirror and reunite.
