The three generals from Shaanxi were Li Da, Zhang Zongxun and Yan Hongyan.
Li Da was a native of Hao County (present-day Mei County), Shaanxi, who had joined Feng Yuxiang's Northwest Army in his early years, and after the Battle of the Central Plains, he followed Zhao Bosheng, Dong Zhentang, and Ji Zhentong to participate in the famous Ningdu Uprising. In the early days of the Red Army, Li Da served as a company commander, but soon he served as the chief of staff of the division, the chief of staff of the Red 2 and 6 Corps, and the chief of staff of the Red Second Front, and became the right-hand man of General He. From the period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to the Period of the War of Liberation, Li Da served as chief of staff of the 129th Division and chief of staff of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Field Army (Erye), and was the right-hand man of Liu Shuai and Chen Laozong. In 1953, Li Da went to Korea to participate in the war and became the second chief of staff of the Volunteer Army. In 1972, Li Da served as deputy chief of the general staff of the People's Liberation Army.
Therefore, Li Dashang will become the longest-serving chief of staff of our army, and has successively assisted 5 marshals, including Boss He, Liu Shuai, Xu Shuai, Chen Lao, and Peng Lao. Liu Shuai called him a "living map," and Mr. Chen called him "our good Zhuge Ge."
Born in 1908 in Weinan County, Shaanxi Province, General Zhang Zongxun is 3 years younger than General Li Da, but he has deep seniority. Zhang Zongxun entered the Huangpu 5th phase in his early years, participated in the Autumn Harvest Uprising, and was once the personal guard of the great man. After the establishment of the Red 4th Army, Zhang Zongxun was one of the first company commanders. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he was the commander of the 358th Brigade of the main brigade of the Eighth Route Army, commanded the famous Yanmen pass ambush and talc flake ambush, and participated in the Battle of Chenzhuang and the Battle of the Hundred Regiments. During the Liberation War, Zhang Zongxun served as the deputy commander of the Northwest Field Army (Yiye) and assisted Mr. Peng in liberating the Great Northwest.
In 1955, there was a "fifteen generals" plan, Zhang Zongxun and Song Renqian, Xiao Ke, Wang Zhen, Zhou Chunquan and others were among them.
Yan Hongyan, the third founding general of Shaanxi, was the only representative of the Red Army in northern Shaanxi among the 57 founding generals.
Born in 1909 in Wayaobao, Anding (now Zichang) County, Shaanxi Province, Yan Hongyan joined the Communist Party of China in 1925 and was one of the first founding generals to join the Party. In October 1927, Yan Hongyan participated in the Qingjian Uprising led by Li Xiangjiu and Xie Zichang, and later served as the leader of the first detachment of the Shaanxi-Gansu guerrilla group and the commander of the Red 30 Army. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Yan Hongyan served as the commander of the 3rd Regiment of the Security Guard regiment and the brigade commander of the 1st Garrison Brigade, defending Yan'an. During the Liberation War, Yan Hongyan successively served as deputy political commissar and director of the political department of the 3rd Column of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Field Army (Erye), and deputy political commissar and director of the political department of the 3rd Corps. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yan Hongyan went to work in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces, but unfortunately committed suicide in 1967.
There are 5 founding lieutenant generals from Shaanxi, namely: Yan Yuyao, Cui Tianmin, Zhang Dazhi, Zhao Qimin, and Kong Congzhou.
Yan Yu was a native of Jia County, Shaanxi Province, with the qualifications of a general, graduated from Huangpu I, and served as chief of staff of the Northwest Field Army (Yiye). Cui Tianmin, a native of Suide, Shaanxi, served as political commissar of the 687th Regiment of the Eighth Route Army, political commissar of the Jiluyu Military Region (the commander was Yang Dezhi), director of the Political Department of the 1st Column of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Military Region, and director of the Political Department of the Ji'nan Military Region. Zhang Dazhi was a native of Ye County (present-day Jia County), Shaanxi, who served as the commander of the 4th Army and the commander of the Lanzhou Military Region after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Zhao Qimin, a native of Lantian County, Shaanxi Province, served as political commissar of the New Fourth Army Brigade, political commissar of the Huaye Column, and deputy commander of the Navy after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Kong Congzhou is a native of Baqiao Town, Xi'an, the relatives of the great man, the general of the Nationalist uprising, once served as the deputy commander of the Huaye Special Forces, and made great contributions to the construction of the people's artillery after the founding of the People's Republic of China.
There were 56 founding major generals from Shaanxi, the most famous of whom were General He Jinnian and Wang Fuzhi. Especially He Jinnian, his seniority and military achievements can actually cover many generals.
He Jinnian, a native of Zichang County, Shaanxi Province, was one of the founders of the Northwest Red Army, and served as the commander of the 81st Division of the Red 15th Army and the commander of the Red 27th Army. At that time, Wang Ping, the political commissar of the 27th Army, and Li Zhimin, director of the Political Department, were later both generals; during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, He Jinnian served as the commander of the 3rd Brigade of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Jinsui Joint Defense Army, and other brigade commanders such as Wang Zhen and Zhang Zongxun were mostly generals; during the Liberation War, he was the commander of the Siye Army, the deputy commander of the 15th Corps, and li Tianyou, Chen Bojun, Han Xianchu, Liu Zhen, and others of his same rank were generals.
After liberation, He Jinnian served as the deputy commander and chief of staff of the Northeast Military Region, and at least all of them were generals at this level, but at that time, the commander of the Northeast Military Region was Gao Mou, and He Jinnian was implicated, and finally only awarded the major general. However, He Jinnian's contributions to the army and the country will always be remembered by the people of Shaanxi Province and the whole country.
