Young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have once again engaged in literary dialogue. On December 3rd, the 2021 Shanghai-Taipei Cross-Strait Literature Camp and Novel Workshop ,co-sponsored by Shanghai Writers Association, Lianjing Publishing Co., Ltd., Sprout Magazine and United Literature Magazine opened in the clouds.

Twenty young literary creators from both sides of the Taiwan Strait and well-known writers and literary critics from both sides of the Strait will conduct a three-day literary activity in the form of network connection to exchange ideas. Yang Lihua, deputy director of the Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office, Wang Wei, full-time vice chairman of the Municipal Writers Association, Chen Zhiyu, general manager of Lianjing Publishing Co., Ltd., and Wang Congwei, editor-in-chief of United Literature, respectively attended the opening activities in Shanghai and Taiwan.

Famous writers and literary critics on both sides of the strait, chen Qifan, Gao Yifeng, Xiang Jing, Xiao Xiangshen, Xiao Bai, Yang Jiaxian, Yang Zonghan, Zhang Yiwei, Zhao Song, Zhong Wenyin, and Walk Away will conduct the theme discussion as guests of the novel workshop. Gao Yifeng, Xiang Jing, Yang Jiaxian, and Zhang Yiwei were also invited to serve as resident instructors for the cross-strait literature camp.

At the opening event, Wang Wei, secretary of the party group of the Shanghai Writers Association in Shanghai, delivered an opening speech: "First of all, I thank literature for giving us the opportunity to get together; I also want to thank the Internet, so that we can break through the obstruction of the epidemic and complete the 'tangible' meeting again in the 'invisible' space." Secretary Wang Wei recalled the 2019 event, "There are several scenes that are deeply imprinted in my memory - our guests and campers, some sitting on the floor, some sitting on the edge of the bed, still exchanging literature in the middle of the night." The activity has taken root in the hearts of literary people on both sides of the strait, and we have the responsibility to continue this activity, and we also hope that the epidemic can pass as soon as possible so that we can better communicate face-to-face. ”

Chen Zhiyu, general manager of Lianjing Publishing Co., Ltd. in Taipei, said: "I am very touched that we can continue this important literary activity. Two years ago, shanghai dignitaries came to Taipei to reunite for literature. Today, in such a cold weather, we are gathered together, also for literature. In these two years, we can't meet, but the activity continues, which is the real feeling. ”

This year's Cross-Strait Literature Camp and Novel Workshop arranged a number of literary activities, including two thematic seminars: "The Echoes of Literature", hosted by Walk Away, with chen Qifan, Gao Yifeng, Xiao Bai, Yang Jiaxian, Zhao Song and other guests participating in the dialogue; How to novel? ——Writing, Reading and Opinions of Contemporary Writers", hosted by Yang Zonghan, with the participation of guests such as Xiang Jing, Xiao Xiangshen, Zhong Wenyin, and Zhang Yiwei.

Under the guidance of the Shanghai Writers Association, Shanghai Sprout Magazine Co., Ltd. and Taiwan Lianjing Publishing Co., Ltd. jointly initiated the launch of the first "Shanghai-Taipei Cross-Strait Literature Camp" (hereinafter referred to as the "Literature Camp") in 2015. In 2016, the Shanghai Writers Association and Taiwan Lianjing Publishing Co., Ltd. launched the "Shanghai-Taipei Novel Workshop" (hereinafter referred to as the "Novel Workshop"). Both events were held in Shanghai and Taipei on a rotational basis. The literary camp aims to enable young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to exchange works and make friends; the novel workshop invites outstanding Mesozoic writers and critics from the literary circles of Shanghai and Taiwan to conduct discussions on the theme of literary creation.

In 2018, the literary camp and the novel workshop were jointly organized for the first time, and the Mesozoic writers and critics of the novel workshop will serve as the mentors of the literary camp while exchanging and discussing, and the campers of the literary camp will participate in the literary creation theme discussion of the novel workshop.

Dance of the Dove

In the November 2021 issue and December 2021 issue of Sprouts, the "Shanghai-Taipei Cross-Strait Literature Camp Album" was launched, publishing new works by young Taiwanese writers such as Lin Wenxin, Xiao Xinwei and Bao Guanhan. At the same time, the first selected book of the "Shanghai-Taipei Cross-Strait Literature Camp", "The Dance of pigeons", was also published by Baihuazhou Literature and Art Publishing House in 2021, and selected the representative works of young writers from both sides of the strait, such as Xia Shuo, Cha Cha, Wu Jingjing, Nian Nian, Chen Youjin, Hong Mingdao, Cao Xu, Chen Qiuyun, Lin Yanqiu, Bu Ri Yuanyu, Li Yiqiao, Deng Guanjie, Wang Yueting, Chen Baiyan, Xu Zhenfu and other young writers on both sides of the strait. Chen Xue, the author of the novel "Skyscraper", summed up the characteristics of the new generation of young writers: "They tell the current situation of the times, tell the huge or gloomy trauma of the human heart, and they show how creativity penetrates the darkness, how to walk through trauma, and go out of their own way." Xiao Bai, winner of the Lu Xun Literature Prize, commented on "The Dance of the Dove": "These young people who are in a language sensitive period are happy. They are immersed in words, and the words themselves constitute the narrative dynamics. ”
