On November 26, 2021, the British Daily Star reported that Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, revealed the pressure he was under in a speech at the Royal Foundation's Seminar on Mental Health for Emergency Services on Thursday.
William reportedly worked for the RAF Search and Rescue Team and the East Anglia Air Ambulance Convoy before taking over full-time royal duties in July 2017.
William said that during his work in the Air Force Search and Rescue Team and the Air Ambulance Convoy, every time he returned home, the pressure and tension of the day were always in his heart, and he was very worried that the pressure he was under would have an impact on family life, and in order to avoid these additional burdens on his family, he hid the "psychological pressure" he had suffered from Kate Middleton at the beginning of his marriage.
In his speech, the Duke of Cambridge detailed the pressures he faced while working on the front lines of emergency services, but remained silent about Kate and his family. The Duke of Cambridge says he always remembers the feeling of being united with his team members and working together to do the best they can.
It is reported that this is not the first time William has made public the status of his work in the emergency services and how they affect his family. Earlier this year, he made a video with Kate and also talked about his time in the air ambulance.
During Thursday's speech, 200 emergency services chiefs from fire, ambulance, police and search and rescue departments attended the meeting and witnessed a new mental health program launched by William.
William, who called it a "critical step" and the plan would introduce a uniform set of standards for providing mental health support to first responders and their families, said mental health is and will continue to be a priority for emergency services in the UK.
