After 6 years, the Fu Lei Translation Award returned to Fu Lei's hometown! Pudong Zhoupu polished Fu Lei's business card

The only Fu Lei theme library in the country, the "13th Fu Lei Translation and Publication Award" held an award ceremony yesterday, and the final two award-winning works of "social science" and "literature" were Zhang Wen's translation of "The Test of Exoticism: Culture and Translation in the German Romantic Period" and Huang Yaqin's translation of "Boys", while the "Newcomer Award" was collected by wang Xian, a post-90s translator.

In order to promote the translation and dissemination of French literature and academic works in China, the Fu Lei Translation and Publication Award was established in 2009. Every year since then, the Fu Lei Prize has selected two of the best Chinese translations from French, one for literature and one for social sciences, and since 2013, the "Newcomer Award" has been established to encourage young translators.

Dong Qiang, chairman of the Fu Lei Award Organizing Committee, said that the Fu Lei Award is the crystallization of cultural exchanges between China and France, and has now not only become a benchmark in the domestic translation industry, but also has a well-known reputation in the world. Over the past ten years, the Fu Lei Award has received more than 600 entries, and 20 or 30 outstanding translators have emerged, all of whom have become excellent backbones in the translation industry.

This year's Fu Lei Award received a total of 47 entries, including 35 in the social science category and 12 in the literature category. The final appraisal meeting was presided over by Wu Jialin, chairman of the jury of this year's Fu Lei Award and an expert in classical Chinese poetry, in addition to 8 permanent judges and two winners of the previous Fu Lei Award, Ning Chunyan and Wang Wei, as well as the writer Sun Ganlu and political science expert Liu Qing as special guest judges.

At the award ceremony, the judges commented on the two winning works. According to the judges, Antoiner Belmann's The Test of The Exotic: Culture and Translation in the German Romantic Period explores the translation culture of the German Romantic period and the difficulties encountered by translators. The work invites the reader to think, but also tries to give answers to questions such as people's relationship with their homeland and foreign lands. The chapter is a very accurate presentation of complex thinking and gives a wonderful translation.

"Boys" tells the history of the growth of a nameless little boy in the twentieth century with a unique narrative, that is, a parallel narrative of personal small stories and the big history of mankind, as well as his knowledge and criticism of the world. Huang Yaqin's translation faithfully embodies the style of "Boy": strong and distinct character emotions, concise words, distinct rhythms, poetic implications, prose arbitrariness, and the melody and rhythm of music.

Winner Zhang Wen said that winning the Fu Lei Award this time not only belongs to himself, but also belongs to all translators, "Translation is the bridge of all knowledge." ”

In addition, the winning work of the "Newcomer Award" is "Return to the Hometown", translated by Wang Xian. As a post-90s generation, Wang Xian said that as a junior in the translation industry, he hopes to have the opportunity to make his own contribution to Sino-French cultural exchanges in the future.

Dong Qiang said that one of the original intentions of the Establishment of the Fu Lei Award is to attract more young people to join the translation industry and let the translation career be followed by others. "This year, there are 11 post-90s translators in nearly 50 works, and we are very happy about this. I hope that this generation of young people can make the voice of China heard by the world. ”
