The famous martial arts novelist Gu Long was born in Hong Kong and later settled in Taiwan. In middle school, he fell in love with a girl in the next class named Gu, and this girl had a phoenix in her name, so he later gave himself a pen name, called Gu Long.
In his youth, his family life and studies were not very smooth. His father abandoned his wife and son during his sophomore year of high school, causing Gu Long himself to run away from home. In 1957, Gu Long entered Tamkang English Junior College to study English, and gave up his studies the following year.
In 1960
In order to make a living, Gu Long began to write martial arts novels. From 1960 to 1963, Gu Long published more than 10 novels and wrote several works for the three musketeers of taiwan at that time.

In 1963
After Gu Long became a family, he published six novels in succession, three of which were made into dramas by TVB Wireless, namely "The Legend of the Hero of the Great Banner", "The Flow of famous swords" and "Peerless Double Pride". Ni Kuang, a well-known writer in Hong Kong, also became friends with Gu Long because he invited the author of "Absolute Double Pride" for Ming Pao. "Peerless Double Glory" is also the novel with the largest number of words in Gu Long's single story.

In 1989, TVB wirelessly filmed and produced "Iron BloodEd Banner Gate", which was adapted from Gu Long's novel "The Legend of the Great Banner Hero".

In 1979, TVB wireless filmed and broadcast the Gulong TV series of the same name, starring Xia Yu, Huang Minyi and Han Mali.

In the same year, "Absolute Double Pride" was also filmed into a series by Wireless, which was the first version of TVB's "Absolute Double Glory", played by Huang Yuanshen as Xiaoyu'er, and Shi Xiu as Hua Wufeng.

In 1988, TVB also filmed the second version of "Absolute Double Glory", with Liang Chaowei and Wu Dairong playing Xiaoyu'er and Hua Wufeng respectively. Although there are not many works left by Liang Chaowei in TVB, many of them are classics, especially martial arts dramas, and this "Absolute Double Glory" is one of them.
In 1967
After the publication of "Peerless Double Glory", immediately after 1967, Gu Long serialized and published "Legend of Iron Blood", which was later "The Legend of Chu Liuxiang". The novel consists of three stories, namely "The Fragrance of the Sea of Blood", "The Great Desert" and "The Thrush". The Legend of Chu Liuxiang was published in 1977 and renamed "The Thief of the Wind" when it was serialized in the Spring and Autumn Of Martial Arts in Hong Kong.
In 1979, TVB filmed and produced the martial arts drama "Chu Liuxiang", which basically told the story of "Legend of Iron Blood", starring Zheng Shaoqiu, a handsome young student of WIRELESS at the time, Chu Liuxiang, Zhao Yazhi as Su Rongrong, Wang Mingquan as Shen Huishan, Wu Mengda as Hu Tiehua, and Guan Cong as Wuhua.

Although for various reasons, the plot of "Chu Liuxiang" is different from the original novel, but this has no impact, once launched, it is still very popular with the audience.
The drama was also introduced to Taiwan in 1982, and after its broadcast, it suddenly set off a boom in Hong Kong dramas. On the weekend, the taxi driver closed down, the night market was canceled, and they all stayed at home and waited to watch "Chu Liuxiang", and the scene of thousands of empty alleys appeared in Taiwan again, and even the theme song was sung all over the streets and alleys of Taiwan.
In 1968
Gu Long began his mature stage of creation from the 1968 novel "The Amorous Swordsman Ruthless Sword".
TVB Wireless's "Little Li Flying Knife" and "The Magic Sword Of Little Li Flying Knife" filmed and broadcast in 1978 were based on this novel, and the male protagonist Li Xunhuan, played by the famous wireless actor Zhu Jiang, was adapted. "Little Li Flying Knife" is the first twenty-five times of the novel, a total of 13 episodes, and the sequel to "Little Li Flying Knife", "Little Li Flying Knife Demon Sword Hero Love", is the last sixty-four times of the novel, a total of 8 episodes.

In 1995, TVB filmed and produced the second version of "Little Li Flying Knife", played by Guan Lijie as the protagonist Li Xunhuan.

Later, Gu Long continued to write Chu Liuxiang series of novels 4-5, and published "The Legend of the Bat" in 1968, which was renamed "Heroic Name Liuxiang" when it was published, which was later the "Sequel to the Legend of Chu Liuxiang".

TVB Wireless's "Legend of Chu Liuxiang's Bat" launched in 1984 is based on the two unit stories of Gu Long's novel "Chu Liuxiang New Legend borrows corpses to return the soul" and "Chu Liuxiang New Legend of Bat Legend". Miao Qiaowei plays Chu Liuxiang, and Weng Meiling plays Sang Xiaojing, which is also known as Princess Yongjing. Four months after the show aired, Weng Meilin committed suicide. Eight months after the premiere, Gu Long also died of cirrhosis.

In 1969
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Gu Long launched the novel Xiao Shi Yi Lang. This novel is the first martial arts work with a script and then a novel. When TVB made the novel into a TV series in 1978, it was also when Xie Xian first joined TVB, and the drama "Xiao Shiyi Lang" was the first wireless drama that Xie Xian participated in.

In 1971
In Gu Long's martial arts novels, the first work arranged not in chronological order but according to the nature of the story was "Happy Heroes" published in 1971. TVB Wireless made it into a TV series "Happy Heroes" in 1980, starring Lu Haipeng and Gao Miaosi.

In 1972
Gu Long's serialized novel "The Prodigal Son of border city" is a sequel to "The Ruthless Sword of the Amorous Swordsman". TVB Wireless based on the novel in 1989 produced the eponymous drama "The Prodigal Son of Border City", starring Zhang Zhaohui, Zeng Huaqian and Wu Dairong. The drama was first released overseas and did not premiere on TVB Emerald until 1991.

In 1973
After Mr. Jin Yong sealed his pen in the early 1970s, he invited a manuscript for Ming Pao, and It was at this time that Gu Long's "Legend of Lu Xiaofeng" was published in Ming Pao. In the three years from 1976 to 1978, TVB Wireless filmed and produced a Series of Lu Xiaofeng series every year, namely "The Mystery of Lu Xiaofeng's Golden Peng", "Before and After the Decisive Battle of Lu Xiaofeng" and "The Battle of Lu Xiaofeng's Wudang", starring Lu Xiaofeng, who just joined wireless in 1976, Liu Songren became popular by playing the role of Lu Xiaofeng.

Gu Long also had a series of works in 1973 called "Seven Weapons". Among them, the second story, "Peacock Plume", was adapted by TVB Wireless into the TV series "Arrow Man Enmity" in 1994, although the story prototype is "Peacock Plume", but the changes are still relatively large.

In 1975
In 1975, Gu Long's novel "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" began to be serialized, and the original name of the novel was "Jianghu People". After that, Gu Long wrote several more, and together they were pieced together into a series of jianghu people novels.
Among them, "Heroes Without Tears" was adapted by TVB in 1979 and made into a series of the same name, starring Xia Yu.

In 1984, TVB once again adapted "Heroes Without Tears", filming and producing a 5-episode TV series "Qingfeng Sword Shadow", starring Miao Qiaowei.

Another story, "Flying Eagle of the Earth", was also made into a drama of the same name by TVB in 1991, starring Wu Zhenyu.

In 1976
The "Full Moon Curved Knife" published later was actually a sequel to "Jianghu Man". "Full Moon Curved Knife" is the fourth work to be filmed by TVB for two versions of the series. The name of the first version is the same as the original name of the original book, called "God of Knives", in 1979, Liu Songren played Ding Peng, and Zhao Yazhi played Qingqing. Wireless's second version of "Full Moon Curved Knife" was broadcast in 1997 and starred Gu Tianle.

In 1976, the film of GuLong Wuxia was a sensation, and his serial novel "Blue Blood Washing Silver Gun" was asked for a manuscript by a newspaper, and the first time the newspaper serialized "Tianya Mingyue Knife", the novel was beheaded, this time, Gu Long could finally be shamed. The novel was adapted into a series of the same name by Wireless in 1984, starring Tao Daewoo.

In 1978
In 1978, Gu Long's "Seven Weapons" series of novels, the sixth story "Parting Hook" was serialized and published. Two years later, in 1980, TVB radio adapted and broadcast the eponymous drama "Parting Hook".

Between 1978 and 1979, the sixth story of Lu Xiaofeng's series of novels, "Nine Days of Phoenix Dance", was published and distributed. In 1985, TVB Wireless also made this novel into a TV series, played by Wan Ziliang as Lu Xiaofeng, and officially broadcast it in early 1986.

In 1981
After entering the 80s, Gu Long's novels gradually began to decline. Because Gu Long was seriously injured, he could only dictate and find someone to ghostwrite. In 1981, the last story of Xiao Li's flying knife series of novels, "Flying Knife, See Flying Knife Again", was published. TVB Wireless's 1984 film "Wulin Family" is a series based on this novel, along with the fifth story of "Seven Weapons", "Overlord Gun".
In fact, Gu Long's novels are far more than that. TVB wireless, but also only selected one of the more classic to shoot.
Mr. Jin Yong once said of Gu Long: "Gu Long's novels have no clear historical background, and he uses a European, modern idea to express a martial arts world. His novels are more in-depth, more extensive in scope, and the ideas are very novel. There is also a shortcoming in his personality, that is, he is not very persistent, most of the novels are written halfway, they are written by others, so the standard is uneven, if he writes it himself, the standard will be much higher. ”

Gu Long said in an interview that he wanted to open a door and window for Chinese entertainment literature in the era of bitterness in the literary world. His idea was simple, but it was also the most extraordinary thing about this hero.
