The selection and establishment of the National Table Tennis Youth and Children's Training Team is an important measure for the China Table Tennis Association to accelerate the cultivation of Chinese table tennis reserve talents and ensure the long-term prosperity of Chinese table tennis in the world table tennis arena. Inspired by the slogans of "I want to go to the national youth" and "I want to go to the country", last year Shanghai held the first selection of the national table tennis youth and children's training team for the first time, and after layers of screening, Shi Cancheng, Geng Xuwei, Zhou Jinquan, Huang Wenjie, Wang Zihao, Zhang Jinglei and Min Mingrong from Shanghai were selected into the national table tennis training team and became the pride of Shanghai's young table tennis players.

After the registration for this year's Shanghai Selection Competition began, it caused a warm response among young and children's table tennis enthusiasts in the city, and all relevant training units and social individuals enthusiastically registered. The number of entrants increased from 461 last year to 626, and it showed three characteristics.

First, the division of each age group is more scientific and refined, from 7 to 14 years old last year, every two ages are changed as a group to each age group. Second, almost all the schools engaged in youth and children's training in Shanghai have registered, including famous colleges and universities such as China Table Tennis Academy and Cao Yanhua Table Tennis Training School, as well as traditional table tennis schools such as Qibao Mingqiang Primary School and Putuo Shude Primary School. Third, the number of entrants participating in the competition in individual names has risen sharply, from 155 last year to 303, almost doubling. In the competition, the athletes fought tenaciously and struggled to be the first, showing a high level of technical and tactical skills, which fully reflected the strong reserve talent base of Shanghai table tennis.
