Pan Xianling asked Sun Xiaoshan, where is Father Li's body buried? When winter came, a habitual thief named Lai Bao unveiled the yellow notice, telling the workers that he had found evidence to solve the case. The workers will be suspicious and ask if the clues provided by Lai Bao are true. Lai Bao recounted one of his experiences:
On the fifth day of the first month, Zhang San's wife, Zheng Shi, held an anniversary for him, and the family invited some monks to chant the sutra. Zheng Shi was beaten, but did not dare to say a word. The drunk man fell asleep, leaving zheng alone to cry at the oil lamp, and Zheng whispered while crying: "You negative man, I had to kill Zhang San for you, and now the body is still hidden in this kang." For more than a year, I didn't eat well, sleep well, and didn't dare to drag it out and bury it. Now that Zhang San's body has not yet decayed, you have abused me, and I was really blind at the beginning! ”
Although Zheng's voice was small, he could hear these words clearly for Lai Bao, who was used to stealing. Lai Bao listened to Zheng's words and felt a burst of joy in his heart. It turned out that Zhang Sanzhen was killed by the Zheng family, and now the workers of the wood factory have invested 100 taels to find clues, and it seems that the 100 taels of silver must be his. Lai Bao then sneaked out of the Zhang family, ripped off the yellowed notice at the door, and found the wood factory to report the incident.
When Lai Bao said this, the workers of the carpentry factory were suspicious, but in the end they chose to believe Lai Bao. The crowd took Lai Bao to the county court to report the case, at this time Pan County Ling had been promoted to another place, and the new county order was Ma Su. After listening to the reports of Lai Bao and others, Ma Xianling thought that the matter was not trivial, so he personally came to the Zhang family with ya and forcibly dug up the earth kang in Zheng's bedroom.
In the Zhang family's kang stove, a corpse that had been cut into four pieces was dug up, and the body had become a dry corpse. After examination and comparison, it was determined that the body was Zhang San's. Ma Da interrogated Zheng on the spot, and Lai Bao again said that he had overheard, and Zheng had nothing to say, so he had to admit that he had murdered his husband in collaboration with his adulterer. The body in Kangzhong belonged to Zhang San, so who was the corpse found in the river at the beginning? Ma Da's people consulted the files of that year, and interrogated Xue Qiang and Ma Yong. The two servants did not dare to hide it, but had to tell the truth:
A year ago, after Zhang San disappeared, Pan Xianling tortured Wu Er to admit that Zhang San's body was in the river. Xue Qiang hugged the old man's head, and Ma Yong dragged the old man's feet and dragged the old man into the river, and the old man drowned alive before he could shout. According to the "Great Qing Laws and Criminal Laws", Ma Daren sentenced Xue Qiang and Ma Yong to be beheaded, and the two were put on death row and awaited review and treatment by the imperial court.
