As soon as my idea was proposed, it was immediately supported by the superior leadership. At this time, when the provincial junior competition began, I immediately rushed to the field to pick a few potential seedlings.

Friends who know me well may know that my criteria for picking students are very strange, and one of them is: don't look too clever, but you must have an internal show, and your memory should be good! Why? Because I think chess is a quiet art, those children who are very clever at looking at the soil often do not have longevity and cannot bear this hardship. So I would rather pick some "wooden" looking apprentices, such children are often full of tenacity, have the spirit of not giving up until the goal is reached, like Zhao Guorong's first feeling for me at the beginning, and it turns out that my vision is correct afterwards.

2. Discover Zhang Xiaoxia and Zhang Mei

In the junior competition, there were two children who were more satisfactory to me, one was Zhang Xiaoxia and the other was Zhang Mei. I played a game of two-horse chess with them, and I felt that the two children had a good sense of chess, so I decided to let them enter the team to try out for a year.

It should be said that Zhang Xiaoxia and Zhang Mei also made great determination to enter the team, because if their grades are not good, they will be sent back, so that they not only waste a year of time, but also delay their studies, which is very cruel for two teenage children. Fortunately, they worked hard themselves, and I taught as much as possible, and now they have become well-known masters in the chess world. When I think about it, it's as if it happened yesterday.

3. National Team Competition

Not long after Zhang Xiaoxia and Zhang Mei entered the team, the team competition began. But because they were still in the heat, I didn't let them participate in this competition, and later the Shanghai team won the women's championship.

This tournament was held in Harbin, as the host, I was under more pressure, and I was both a member of the competition and an organizer of the competition, and the chess players asked me any questions, and I was embarrassed to refuse, so I tried my best to solve it, and I was very tired from morning to night. This tournament is still by me to play the third, Zhao Guorong and Sun Zhiwei played the first two, this way of arranging was originally very beneficial to us, but the result I played generally, Zhao Guorong and Sun Zhiwei's performance was not ideal, in the end we only won the third place, and hebei team performed well, replacing the "triple crown" Guangdong team and won the championship.

4. Teach Lü Qin, Yu Youhua and other chess players

After the team competition, the National Sports Commission left many young chess players in Harbin, on the one hand, to train young chess players intensively, on the other hand, to select athletes for the Asian Cup next year. The chess players left this time are all around 20 years old, such as Lu Qin, Zhao Guorong, Li Laiqun and Yu Youhua, and it turns out that these young people have indeed become the backbone of the chess world in the future.

This training was led by Me and Hu Ronghua, assisted by Liu Dahua, and later Hu Ronghua returned to Shanghai in advance, so the lectures were basically the responsibility of Me and Liu Dahua. Every morning, Liu Dahua and I respectively explained all aspects of the knowledge of the middle and disabled, and in the afternoon, the team members carried out a round-robin game in the team, and the combination of theory and practice was very good, and after nearly half a month of training, their understanding of chess has reached a new level.

During the lecture, I paid great attention to cultivating their innovative ability. I remember one morning, when it was my turn to explain the endgame to everyone, I laid out a stereotype, which was previously recognized by everyone as a model for the Che Bing Example and the Ma Shi Xiang Quan. I laid out the pieces and let them dismantle themselves. A few minutes later, they told me that because the red soldiers could not exchange for the black soldiers, it was natural to be a case. In this competition, Zhao Guorong won the championship and Qian Hongfa won the fifth place.

6. National Individual Competition

Soon after, the 1983 individual competition kicked off in The Spring City of Kunming, and although I was no longer participating in the competition, I was still very concerned. In this individual competition, Hu Ronghua won the championship again after the defeat of leshan soldiers, and Zhao Guorong also reached the top six for the second time, gradually becoming the main force in the Heilongjiang chess world.
