1. Recovery

In 1973, the national team sports committee issued a document to resume the national competition, and the feelings that had been suppressed for many years in the chess world were finally released for a while. Chess activities unfolded like wildfire. At that time, I was transferred to the factory and was under the management of the Municipal Sports Committee, and in order to participate in the competition, the Municipal Sports Committee organized a training team to conduct new selections in the city. Since women and children are allowed to participate in this individual competition, this selection also pays attention to cultivating reserve forces. I was the first in the selection competition, and the others who were selected to the chess team were Meng Zhaozhong and Jin Qixing, and there were two other children, one was Zhao Guorong and the other was Fan Guilian. These two children are my favorite in children's competitions, Fan Guilian is characterized by quick reflexes, talent, he can play blind chess when he is five years old. Zhao Guorong is a completely different style, simple, calm, and particularly strong in review.

2. Friendly matches

Although the team was formed, but everyone had not played chess for several years, so it was obviously better to go to the game than the Shanghai team and the Guangdong team that were established a year or two in advance. This problem is more realistic, so the sports committee decided to go to Shanghai for a friendly competition before going to Chengdu, Sichuan to participate in the national individual competition, and spend more money to exercise first.

In this way, in line with the purpose of training troops, the Heilongjiang team of six people arrived in Shanghai. There were two games in Shanghai, only I won a game of chess with Hu Ronghua, Meng Zhaozhong and Jin Qichang, including Fan Guilian and Zhao Guorong, who failed to win. Among them, Zhao Guorong and Fan Guilian both lost to a young chess player named Lin Hongmin of the Shanghai team. Xu Tianli also played a game of chess with Zhao Guorong. Although the friendly match was lost, after several games, several chess players of the Heilongjiang team were trained in chess skills and their confidence was strengthened.

3. National Individual Competition

The 1974 National Individual Competition was held in Chengdu, Sichuan. Chengdu's chess style was very popular, but at that time, due to the influence of the Cultural Revolution, everything was in ruins. I remember the train, and when we saw the car that picked us up, our team members were shocked, it was a big military truck, surrounded by iron railings, covered with green canvas, and we got on this "caravan", and we came to the place where we stayed for the race, an army guest house. It turned out that because the funds for this competition were too tight, everything could only be simplified. But as long as there is chess to play, the hospitality is not a simple thing.

This individual competition can be said to be the largest chess event since the founding of the People's Republic of China, there are more than 80 chess players participating in the Chinese chess competition, the competition is divided into two stages, the first stage is the points round robin tournament, the top three in the group are determined, a total of thirty winners are organized into a group, and then through sixteen rounds of round robin competition, the champion and runner-up and their names are determined.

The first round of the game was out of the cold, and Gao Hua, a female chess player who participated in the competition for the first time, defeated Meng Zhaozhong of the Heilongjiang team. The Heilongjiang team was unfavorable. In the subsequent game, Zhao Guorong and Fan Guilian's results were not very good, but Zhao Guorong also won a few games of chess, but Fan Guilian did not win a single game. Fan Guilian changed his game to chess due to his lack of progress in Chinese chess. In fact, Fan Guilian's talent is still very good, but he is not tenacious enough, once he loses chess, he will be defeated, if his psychological aspect is stronger, it is still a great development in Chinese chess.

In the second round of the final, Hu Ronghua and Yang Guanxuan played against each other, and both of them played very cautiously, refusing to easily show flaws, and frustrated at the beginning of the game. The two sides fought for more than seventy years, and finally shook hands and made peace.

In the fourth round, I met my old rival Yang Guanxuan, and after eight years, I sat down again and wanted to win this game.

This plate was laid down for more than nine hours and sealed three times. Before the third blockage, a more complicated endgame was formed, and although I had the advantage, I had to think hard to win within the 30th limit of the rule. The referee did not dare to make a decision, so he went to seek the opinion of the organizing committee of the conference, and the organizing committee strictly refused this request. So seal the plate! The referee went to dinner with the two of us. In fact, this is not good for me, because I can't go back to the room to play chess.

Sitting at the dinner table, Yang Guanxuan and I did not eat, I closed my eyes, and the changes in the chess game kept flashing in my mind, how to win within the 30-step limit? Unconsciously, about 10 minutes, I suddenly opened my eyes, ah!
