Wen Qin was once the son of a famous general of the State of Wei, brave and decisive, and was treated favorably by Cao Shuang, and was named a champion general, and after Cao Shuang was killed, the State of Wei also appeased Wen Qin and made him a former general.
But later, Wen Qin surrendered to the State of Wu, why is this? Wei Guo was not thin to Wen Qin, Wen Qin went to Eastern Wu, what he thought, we must consider from the following three aspects.
1, offend too many people
Wen Qin was a famous general of the State of Wei, so Wen Qin was very arrogant and cruel. This made Wen Qin offend many people up and down the Wei court, such as Cao Rui, who suppressed Wen Qin's actions.
During his time in Huainan, Wen Qin made a military achievement, but he falsely reported the number of prisoners and wanted to receive a reward, but the State of Wei did not give him a reward.
Wen Qin and Wu Qiu Jian fought with Sima Shi, and as a result Wen Qin fled after being defeated by Sima Shi, and Wu Qiu Jian was killed, so many of the generals who were coerced by Wen Qin were annexed to the State of Wei.
This made Wen Qin now a lonely man and unable to stand on his own, so he had to surrender to the State of Wu.
We saw that Wen Qin had offended many people, leaving him with no way out in the end, and everyone was unwilling to follow him, leaving him alone.
If he did not surrender to the State of Wu, he would be worried about his life, so under the circumstances at that time, the only way he could go was to go to the State of Wu.
2. Fight for power with the Sima family
Although Wen Qin offended many people, he did not necessarily have to surrender to Eastern Wu, but he fought with Sima Shi for power, so that he had to go to Eastern Wu, otherwise his life would be in danger. Why did he fight for power with the Sima family?
Because Cao Shuang and Wen Qin were fellow countrymen, Cao Shuang reused Wen Qin, but Sima Yi staged a coup d'état and killed Cao Shuang. Therefore, Wen Qin wanted to confront the Sima family, so he joined forces with Wuqiu Jian and issued an edict in the name of Empress Guo, announcing Sima Shi's guilt, and preparing to raise an army against Sima Shi.
However, Sima Shi already had great power in the State of Wei at that time, so he sent troops to attack Wuqiu Jian and Wen Qin, and finally Sima Shi used a trick to beat Wen Qin away, and Wu Qiu Jian was killed by his generals.
Wen Qin did not measure up to his own strength, thinking that he had the ability to compete with Sima Shi, and the result was that the army was defeated like a mountain, he had offended many people before, and he was very arrogant and lacked wisdom, so it was impossible to have the strength to go to the Sima family to confront.
But he did not know it, he wanted to seize power, but his strength did not match his desire, and failure was inevitable. Therefore, Wen Qin's failed struggle for power made him finally decide to leave the State of Wei, otherwise he would not be able to survive.
3. Close to Eastern Wu
After Wen Qin's defeat, the best choice was to go to Eastern Wu, why? Because his war with Sima Shi took place near Shouchun, he wanted to return to Shouchun, but he could not go back, and Sima Shi occupied this place.
Wen Qin could only escape, where to flee? Of course, it is to go to Eastern Wu, because Eastern Wu is very close to Shouchun, of course, it is close or far.
Wen Qin's surrender to Eastern Wu was also an instinctive reaction. He was defeated and had to flee in order to save his life. Going to a country that is opposed to the State of Wei is the most appropriate choice. However, the two states opposed to the State of Wei were the Shu Han and Eastern Wu states.
At that time, Wen Qin's place was closest to Eastern Wu, and if he went to Shu Han, he was remote and easy to be caught up by Sima Shi's pursuers. And going to Eastern Wu is closer, it takes less time, and the possibility of pursuing the soldiers catching up with him is also small.
Moreover, Eastern Wu also welcomed Wen Qin's arrival, so Wen Qin's going to Eastern Wu was the most reasonable choice.
From Wen Qin's greed, cruelty, and offense everywhere when he was in the State of Wei, but he also loved to fight for power, this was the root cause of his final having to surrender to Eastern Wu.
Only by learning to unite others can people get the support of the majority of the people. Wen Qin's character is easy to offend people, unable to unite others, and failure is inevitable. When we usually say that virtue is not worthy, we refer to this kind of person.
Therefore, from Wen Qin's experience, it is not difficult for us to see that a person who wants to have a stable life and career must learn to unite people, at least not to offend people everywhere.
Like Wen Qin, in the end, everyone turned their backs on him, making him a real loner and had to surrender to Eastern Wu. Moreover, he did not have a smooth life in Eastern Wu, and had a conflict with Zhuge Ke, and was finally killed by Zhuge Ke.
Therefore, Wen Qin's personality is not popular anywhere, and he can escape for a while, but he cannot escape for a lifetime. He didn't know what his own problem was, and making the same mistake over and over again would end up imaginably. Wen Qin's experience just shows that character determines destiny.
