At about 4:00 a.m. on April 26, 1926, a low gunshot was heard from the East Execution Ground of Beijing's Tianqiao, and Shao Piaoping, the founder of the Beijing News and a famous journalist, collapsed in a pool of blood, only 40 years old.
Shao Piaoping was a well-known journalist of the Republic of China and founded the Beijing Daily. In the spring and autumn of his short forty years, he used his pen as a gun and newspapers as a battlefield, and he exclusively cursed autocratic rule, and became famous in the literary world for a time. Shao Piaoping opposed power and dictatorship, and the pen in his hand always pointed to the ruler. This offended Yuan Shikai, Zhang Zuolin and other people in power. Later, Shao Piaoping was shot and killed by the warlord Zhang Zuolin. A generation of newspapermen, just like this, died in the execution ground.
At that time, because Shao Piaoping's pen was too powerful and there were too many people who had offended him, Zhang Zuolin was not the only one who wanted to kill him. The first person to do something to him was Yuan Shikai.

Shao Piaoping was born on October 11, 1886, and was originally named Shao Jingqing, a native of Jinhua, Zhejiang. Shao Piaoping has used many pseudonyms, and "Piaoping" is one of them. The word "Piaoping" means "life is like a broken stem Piaoping". Shao Piaoping studied very hard when she was a child, and she passed the Xiucai examination at the age of 14, which shows that her ancient Chinese foundation is very good. As he grew older, he was admitted to the Zhejiang Provincial Higher School (the predecessor of zhejiang university) to study in the normal department. During her study, Shao Piaoping worked very hard and often slept and forgot to read. At that time, when the atmosphere was just beginning to open, all kinds of ideas and doctrines spread wildly among young students, and Shao Piaoping worked diligently, dabbled in a lot of new knowledge, and came into contact with many new ideas. At that time, newspapers such as Minbao, Qinghui Bao, and Xinmin Cong Bao were Shao Piaoping's favorites. The works of Liang Qichao, Zhang Taiyan and others are required books for his desk. These solid literary skills laid a solid foundation for his future career in literature.
Shao Piaoping, although a literati, has a chivalrous spirit in his body, "the great hero, for the country and the people." Shao Piaoping inherited the traditional spirit of the ancient Chinese literati "carrying the Tao with literature", combined with the influence of new ideas, and germinated the idea of "news to save the country". He also made a "lifelong wish" for this purpose. Since then, he has used his own pen to perform heroic deeds and righteousness in the world of news, serving the country and the people.
After the Xinhai Revolution, the Qing Dynasty collapsed. China has entered a whole new era. And Shao Piaoping's life has also entered a new stage. At this time, he was hired as the chief writer of the Hangzhou "Hanmin Daily". After he arrived at the newspaper, instead of writing some light and flowing leisurely and idyllic prose, he aimed the spearhead at Yuan Shikai. Shao Piaoping was very aware of the situation at that time, and he knew yuan shikai's ambitions. In January 1912, Shao Piaoping published a commentary in which he compared Yuan Shikai to Cao Cao and Wang Mang, asserting that "Yuan Thief does not die, and great chaos continues." This short article exposed Yuan Shikai's ambition to become emperor to the world. After Yuan Shikai saw the commentary, he was so angry that he was going to die.
On the night of March 20, 1913, Song Jiaoren was assassinated by assassins at the Shanghai Railway Station and died. After the news came out, the whole country was in an uproar.
Shao Piaoping immediately picked up the pen in her hand and began a fierce battle. He wrote in a newspaper article pointing out: "[In the assassination of Song Jiaoren], there were perpetrators, there were main messengers, and even more the main messengers among the main messengers", pointing the spearhead directly at Yuan Shikai. Shao Piaoping's sharp remarks made Yuan Shikai very uneasy. Soon, the Zhejiang military and police sealed the "Hanmin Daily" museum for "disturbing public order", and Shao Piaoping was also arrested. In the face of the rudeness of the military and police, Shao Piaoping was not afraid, he said: "The newspaper can be sealed, and the reporter's pen cannot be sealed." The main writer can be killed, but the power of public opinion cannot be destroyed." Its arrogance is impressive.
Because Shao Piaoping refused to cooperate with the authorities, he was arrested three times and assassinated.
The situation was difficult, and Shao Piaoping had no choice but to take refuge in Japan.
After arriving in Japan, he studied law and politics at Hosei University in Tokyo. Even when he was abroad, he was still concerned about the current situation at home, often writing reviews for domestic newspapers, and organizing the "Tokyo Shimbun" to openly oppose Yuan Shikai's traitor.
In December 1915, Yuan Shikai declared himself emperor and changed his name to "Hong Xian". After receiving the news, Shao Piaoping returned to Shanghai from Japan at the invitation of her colleagues in the domestic press circles and prepared to show her fists in the press circles. Just after arriving in Shanghai, he wrote for the "Declaration" and "Times", wrote a series of issues exposing Yuan Shikai's autocratic rule, and used a laughing and angry pen to satirize Yuan Shikai's "emperor dream". The most famous of these articles is the one "Pre-Hoisting to the Pole". There is such a sentence in the article: "The so-called emperor will soon ascend to the pole... The so-called ascendants, An Zhifei put aside the saying of capital punishment! Reporters are pre-hanging! Yuan Shikai looked at it and scolded the mother angrily.
Although this article is short, it is extremely concise and to the point. The article was widely circulated, and everyone who read it found it very happy.
Shao Piaoping's three words, along with those words, spread throughout the country.
83 days after Yuan Shikai claimed to be emperor, he cried out for his life in the scolding of the people of the whole country. Scolding Yuan Shikai, Shao Piaoping was indispensable.
