New York State Police asked the public to help crack the case of a 29-year-old Long Island mother who was stabbed to death. The mother's body was found more than 30 years ago in the snow near Park Road in South New York State.

According to NBCNY, Carolyn Smith is a mother of two who lives in islip in the middle. On March 6, 1986, she disappeared after leaving her colleague's apartment in bronx on her way to Newark airport. The next day, her body was found by a trailer driver who was looking for a scrapped car. Authorities said Smith's body had been stabbed several times and placed in the snow on the side of the highway.

Smith was working at a digital equipment company in New York City at the time, and she drove a white Ford station wagon from 1985 to work. On April 8, 1986, her station wagon was found in the Taft Housing Projects on Park Avenue in Manhattan more than a month after she disappeared.

New York State Police said they have tracked hundreds of leads over the past 33 years and the investigation is still ongoing. Smith frequently travels to Huntington Station and New York City. Anyone with knowledge of the case should call 631-756-3300.
