A few days ago, Hong Kong's "Ta Kung Pao" reported that the relevant departments on the mainland are studying and formulating a list of "Taiwan independence" diehards and will be held accountable for life. In response to this, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, will severely punish a small number of diehards of "Taiwan independence" and their major supporters, such as their financial owners, in accordance with the law.
How to draw up a list of "Taiwan independence" diehards has become a hot topic on both sides of the strait in recent times. Professor Pan Chaoyang, a well-known historian of the reunification faction on the island and former dean of the School of International and Overseas Chinese Education of Taiwan Normal University who has long openly opposed the "Taiwan independence curriculum," expressed his views from the angle of the historical development of "Taiwan independence" in an interview with a Straits Herald reporter yesterday.
A "Su Zhenchang is not only 'Taiwan independence', but also the grandson of a traitor"
Reporter: What is your opinion on the mainland's intention to study and formulate a list of "Taiwan independence" diehards?
Pan Chaoyang: The "Taiwan independence" forces are a rebel group, and they have structure. I believe that this list can be developed from three perspectives. The first is the builder of the source of ideological education; the second is to investigate and prosecute from the "political and Taoist level" rather than the "ruling and Daoist level"; third, grasp the big and let go of the small, narrow the scope of the blow, and unite the majority.
[Reporter] Not long ago, the overseas edition of the People's Daily published an article entitled "Su Zhenchang's Evil Is Full of Glory and Cannot Escape The Trial of History," and the Global Times also published "Su Zhenchang at the Bottom: A Stumbling Block to Improving Cross-Strait Relations.", which directly pointed out that Su Zhenchang was one of the list of stubborn "Taiwan independence" elements. As a historian, how do you evaluate Su Zhenchang's "Taiwan independence" behavior?
Pan Chaoyang: This year's COVID-19 pandemic is raging, and Su Zhenchang is the executioner of the DPP authorities who took the lead in provoking, planting booty and attacking the mainland. Under the pretext of the new crown epidemic, he blocked cross-strait exchanges, undermined cross-strait friendship, and incited the Taiwan people to hate the mainland, causing more serious antagonism between the people on both sides of the strait. Su Zhenchang did not go to jail in the "Formosa Boulevard Incident", he was only a member of the defense lawyer group, and later he rose to the position of "chief executive" (twice) by speculating all the way, and then used the power in his hands to blatantly engage in the "Taiwan independence policy", which was extremely arrogant and arrogant during the new crown epidemic this year.
Su Zhenchang is not the creator of the "Taiwan independence concept", he does not have that skill, but he is the grandson of a traitor in Taiwan. His grandfather Su Yunying and his uncle Su Yunti, in the Japanese occupation era, designed to deceive the anti-Japanese hero Lin Shaomao in Taiwan's Gaoping District, so that Lin Shaomao was besieged by the Japanese army and the whole family died, and the Su brothers were rewarded by the Japanese from then on, flying yellow and tengda, glorious and rich, and the privileges of the traitors could not be enjoyed endlessly. Su Zhenchang is the blood marrow of the traitor in his bones, flattering the Japanese emperor to curry favor with the US imperialists, hating in hatred, and denying himself to be a Chinese at all.
B "Lee Teng-hui and Shi Ming are the first evil of the first evils"
Reporter: Many people on the mainland believe that Lee Teng-hui is the initiator of the comprehensive promotion of "Taiwan independence," and the supporters of the Green Camp on the island are also called the "godfathers of Taiwan independence." What do you think?
Pan Chaoyang: The initiator of the strategic and planned implementation of the "Taiwan independence" movement from the source of "ideological education" is indeed Lee Teng-hui, who only died of illness this year. This person is a thorough Japanese "imperial citizen", in his bones - he directly believes that he is a Japanese who grew up in Taiwan, his name is "Masao Iwazai", and he has repeatedly publicly advocated that "the Diaoyu Islands are Japanese territory". He lurked in the Kuomintang for a long time, deceived Chiang Ching-kuo, and finally won the position of leader of the Taiwan region, and then promoted "Taiwan independence" in all directions.
Lee Teng-hui is not the founder of the idea of "Taiwan independence," but uses "political tactics" to establish the ideology of "Taiwan independence." In front of Lee Teng-hui, there are already two "histories of Taiwan independence" as "guides," this is what Wang Yude called "Taiwan: A History of Bitterness," and the other is Shi Ming's (real name Shi Zhaohui) so-called "Four Hundred Years of Taiwanese History." The latter of the two books has a great influence, but both books advocate that "Taiwanese are not Chinese", agree to praise Japan's colonization of Taiwan, and believe that Japan has brought modern civilization to Taiwan. Wang Yude died in Japan, and Shi Ming was welcomed back to Taiwan by Lee Teng-hui and honored as the so-called "national teacher." The ghost of "Taiwan independence" has developed from Shi Ming's book to this day.
Shi Ming and Lee Teng-hui were the planners of the "Taiwan independence ideology" and the "Taiwan independence policy," respectively; for nearly three decades, they have been engaged in "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and betrayed China's interests. Therefore, I think that both of them are the "chief evil of the leading evils of Taiwan independence", but they are already dead, so let history punish their guilt!
C "Bian Cai Starts from the Curriculum to Cultivate 'Taiwan Independence' Youth"
Reporter: What is your view on Chen Shui-bian and Tsai Ing-wen's move to promote "Taiwan independence"?
Pan Chaoyang: Walking through will leave traces! Chen Shui-bian has many "Taiwan independence" words and deeds. For example, he once shouted "one country on one side" and promoted a "referendum on joining the United Nations," and said that he was the leader of the Taiwan region appointed by the "US military government." Moreover, during his term of office, he vigorously carried out education in the "history of Taiwan independence" and implemented the "Taiwan independence curriculum."
As for Tsai Ing-wen, as everyone knows, she was the drafter of Lee Teng-hui's "two-state theory." Lee Teng-hui regards Tsai Ing-wen as a "dry daughter" and once embraced Tsai Ing-wen in a large-scale gathering. There is also a saying in Taiwan that Tsai Ing-wen regards Lee Teng-hui as a "spiritual teacher."
The "Taiwan independence curriculum" is a source of evil that Taiwan's young people are now becoming more and more partial to "independence," and It is difficult for Chen Shui-bian to get rid of his responsibility. At the end of Ma Ying-jeou's second term, he sought out and criticized "anti-independence" scholars of the unification faction to fine-tune the "Taiwan independence syllabus," and for example, Professor Wang Xiaobo served as the convener of the history subject, and I myself was also one of the members of the "syllabus fine-tuning group." This was the "fine-tuning syllabus" that came later. However, after the KMT lost power, as soon as Tsai Ing-wen came to power, she brazenly denied the "fine-tuning syllabus" and made the "dark green" Pan Wenzhong the "minister of education", with Jin Shiqi, associate professor of the history department of the National Chengchi University, as the host of the new syllabus design. Tsai Ing-wen's "Taiwan independence syllabus" has even completely abolished "Chinese History" and "Chinese Geography" and replaced them with "East Asian History" and "World Geography." This is the most advanced version of Li and Chen's "Taiwan independence education." In this way, we must be very vigilant against Tsai Ing-wen's formal promotion of "de jure Taiwan independence" during her term of office.
Whether it is Lee Teng-hui, Chen Shui-bian, or Tsai Ing-wen, they all have both "political Taiwan independence" and "cultural and educational Taiwan independence." They have also set up special training schools for "Taiwan independence" cadres and talents, such as The Lee Teng-hui School, the Chen You", the "Ketagalan School," and the Tsai You".
D "Du Zhengsheng is a 'Taiwan independence education' trader"
Reporter: You just mentioned the "Taiwan independence education," especially the process of "Taiwan independence" in the historical geography subjects at the middle school stage, and Du Zhengsheng, the "minister of education" under Chen Shui-bian's tenure, is often mentioned. What kind of role do you think he played?
Pan Chaoyang: Lee Teng-hui's planning and promotion of the "Taiwan independence line" was carried out under the guidance of "Taiwan nationalism," and the so-called "Taiwan local center theory" was sold on a large scale, thus changing "Mainland China and Taiwan" into "Mainland China and Taiwan's Taiwan."
Lee Teng-hui then approached historian Du Zhengsheng and asked him to design a new curriculum for Taiwanese junior high school students based on the so-called "Taiwan-centric theory." This textbook is named "Understanding Taiwan," and this textbook is based on the so-called "concentric circle view of history" fabricated by Du Shi, taking Taiwan as the center to talk about Taiwan's history and Taiwan society, and formally cutting Off Taiwan from China's historical place and society, which is the beginning of "educating Taiwan independence."
By the time of Chen Shui-bian, high school education had cut off the history of Taiwan from the history of China. Originally, high school education was called "National History", and there were chapters on the history of Taiwan; in other words, Taiwan was part of China. However, from Lee Teng-hui's "Understanding Taiwan" to Chen Shui-bian's "History of Taiwan," "educating Taiwan independence" has advanced from the initial project to the second-level project, and the "minister of education" during Chen Shui-bian's tenure was Du Zhengsheng.
Under Du Zhengsheng's plan, "Understanding Taiwan," "History of Taiwan," and even "Geography of Taiwan" all centered on the idea of "Taiwan independence." Henceforth, the historical site of the mainland is no longer "the historical land of one's own country," but the historical site of China, that is, the historical place of "foreign countries." It is precisely under this kind of "Taiwan independence education" that a considerable number of young people in Taiwan now deny that they are Chinese. Therefore, some people in the Green Camp callEdu Du Zhengsheng "chief engineer of Taiwan independence education" and also a trader of "Taiwan independence education."
