This donation also tells the touching story of two late professors, Sha Lusheng and Li Huilong, two late professors of the School of Hydraulic Science and Engineering of Yangda University, who have been teaching and educating people all their lives and loving the campus.
Professors Sha Lusheng and Li Huilong were the earliest batch of water conservancy experts after the founding of New China. Since the 1950s, the couple has been fighting in the fields of scientific research and teaching, and has made many contributions to the development of rural water conservancy, water conservancy informatization construction, and water conservancy talent training. From January to March 2020, the second elder died of illness, but he left behind an unfinished business: donating all his property to the school.
The eldest son, Li Wen, told reporters that the whole family was very much in favor of this matter and thought that it was a great thing.
After deliberation, Li Wen and his brother decided to donate 920,000 yuan from the sale of the property where their parents lived to the school. And set up a "wison" fund for scholarships and grants and school construction.
In addition, Li Wen also donated all the teaching manuscripts, books, materials, etc. of the second elder's life to the school. Li Wen said that these materials are more useful in schools than in homes, allowing more people to understand the history of water conservancy knowledge.
The selfless dedication of the two old professors and their families also made the teachers and students of the school very moved. Yangzhou University said that they will inherit and carry forward the noble conduct of the two old people and make good use of each scholarship and bursary.
Yang Yanhong, secretary of the party committee of the School of Water Conservancy Science and Engineering of Yangzhou University, said that it is necessary to treasure the materials left by the second old man and give full play to its valuable educational and academic value.
