The Confucius saw shovel of the results of the Tianmu Mountain Research Discipline Examination

The Tianmu Mountain Research Examination was successfully concluded, and the 4 groups of students observed and collected more than 70 species of insects, and sorted out and made more than 150 insect specimens, which can be described as a full harvest. After sorting, classification and identification, a total of 1 individual of Confucius saw shovel was collected.

Confucius saw shovel belongs to the Coleoptera spade family insects, mainly divided in Fujian, Zhejiang, Hainan Island, Shandong Yantai and other places. 59-106mm long (male), the longest beetle in China, distributed in the south, especially in Hunan, Hainan and other places. The body color is bright black, the male has a well-developed jaw, there are two larger dental processes, more small dental processes, and a small thorny process on each side of the dorsal plate of the forebreast. Spade armor is aggressive by nature. Adults love to eat fruit; Larvae (commonly known as old wood worms) rot and inhabit tree stumps and their roots. Adults are more nocturnal, have phototropism, and are also daytime active species. Because of its large size and strange shape, it is loved and collected by the public, and is kept as a pet.
