Zhang Junjie is the father of the Constitution of the Republic of China, a philosopher and revolutionary, but he is famous in modern history, but more because of his sister Zhang Youyi, that is, Xu Zhimo's original wife.
He is the true guardian of Zhang Youyi's life: when she was a child, she cried bitterly because of her foot binding, he stood up to stop and promised his mother that "he could not marry out and raise him for a lifetime"; when she was a teenager, she was engaged to Xu Zhimo, which began with him; after Xu Zhimo cheated abroad, he tried everything to help his sister go abroad to defend the marriage; after she was pregnant and abandoned, he took his sister back to Germany and promised to "give birth to the child and I will raise"; after the divorce, he did his best to help his sister counterattack...
It is also because of Zhang Junjie's care for Zhang Youyi, many people jokingly call Zhang Junjie "sister protector".
But it is very interesting that although Zhang Junji is extremely protective of his sister, after his sister was abandoned by her husband, he did not break off his friendship with his brother-in-law Xu Zhimo, but continued to maintain normal friends with him.
Zhang Junjie's subsequent peace with Xu Zhimo was his understanding of Xu Zhimo's behavior of abandoning his wife and son? The answer is not so, in fact, this is determined by Zhang Junjie's habits of dealing with the world.
It turned out that Zhang Junjie, who was born into a Confucian doctor and merchant family, liked Zhu Xi's "Records of Recent Thoughts" from an early age, which nourished his gentle and pious disposition, and also cultivated his lifelong "dignity", that is, the belief in following good moral character. It is also because of this belief that even though Zhang Junjie has divorced his original partner because of love and Xu Zhimo in his life, in terms of specific disposition, he has also achieved the three words of "honorability" as much as possible.

Zhang Junjie's marriage is very similar to that of his brother-in-law Xu Zhimo, who married Shen in 1906 on the orders of his parents. Just a month after his marriage, he traveled east to Japan to study, and since then he and his wife have only been nominally husband and wife. Because he and Shen did not give birth to a son and a half daughter, many people believe that the two are not actually married.
But even so, Zhang Junjie has never been unclear with any woman in marriage.
In 1923, when Zhang Junjie and Shen's nominal marriage lasted for 17 years, the 37-year-old Zhang Junjie met Wang Shiying, the only love of his life.
Wang Shiying was twelve years younger than Zhang Junjie, and when the two met, she was 24 years old but still in the middle of the word.
The two first met at a reception in Beijing to prepare for the visit of the Indian poet Tagore to China, and it is very interesting that the person in charge of Tagore's visit to China was his former brother-in-law Xu Zhimo.
The first time he saw Wang Shiying, a Fuzhou woman, Zhang Junjie could never remove his eyes.
Wang Shiying was wearing a plain cheongsam that day, her hair was casually tied backwards into a low ponytail, and her eyes were as clear as a clear spring. Zhang Junjie was attracted by her moving eyes at that time, and it was only at this time that he truly understood the meaning of love at first sight.
Obviously she was so delicate, but when he walked into her, he felt that his whole heart was going to jump out. Unfortunately, because of the haste of the first meeting, two people who had a good feeling for each other did not have time to say a few words.
But in the interval between busy work, Zhang Junji always couldn't help but look at her with her eyes, and she could always detect the following of his gaze in the busy work.
After this meeting, the two did not see each other again until June of the following year. At that time, Wang Shiying was still in trouble, she was taking the students of the Fujian Female Teacher to visit Shanghai and other places, and at this time, Zhang Junjie was busy fighting for the funds of the National Autonomous College, because this time "busy to a piece", they finally got the first chance to get along and understand.
Everything is impartial just right, as the writer Zhang Ailing said, there is no step earlier, no step later, just catch up.
In this relationship, Zhang Junjie was more certain of her feelings for Wang Shiying, and she also involuntarily developed a special affection for him.
After more than ten days of getting along, the two were inseparable when they separated again. After that, Wang Shiying returned to Fuzhou, Zhang Junjie continued to stay in Shanghai, and love letters began to travel back and forth between the two cities.
Wang Shiying and Zhang Junjie
As the exchanges deepened, Zhang Junjie, who identified Wang Shiying as the love of his life, told her in the letter: "Take Kong De, Borgson, and Einstein as examples, and I hope to have help from the sages. Shi Ying, Shi Ying, what I have thought and written, I have to discuss with Jun Yiyi, why am I so lucky! ”
After writing this letter, Zhang Junjie went so far as to write poetry to Wang Shiying. With the rapid heating up of the relationship between the two, a difficult problem coiled in Zhang Junjie's heart also began to be frequently thought of by him, that is, how to settle the original Shen Family.
After thinking about it, Zhang Junjie decided to divorce the original Shen clan first, and then propose to Wang Shiying.
Before deciding to divorce, Zhang Junjie first consulted his sister Zhang Youyi's opinion, and Zhang Youyi did not comment after listening to it, but only said: "I believe you will handle it well." ”
Sure enough, Zhang Junjie's handling did not disappoint his sister at all. In the past, Xu Zhimo and Zhang Youyi adopted the "disappearance law" before divorcing, that is, leaving her alone abroad during his wife's pregnancy; the divorce procedure was when she was still weak after childbirth, and he used almost coercive means.
But Zhang Junjie's handling was completely different, he informed Shen in advance and promised her personally: "The divorce conditions can be opened at will, and I can do everything I can." Because Shen Shi had no feelings for Zhang Junjie, she was not too surprised after receiving her husband's divorce request. Naturally, she did not ask too much.
In the end, Zhang Junji and Shen were able to dissolve the marriage peacefully, and when the two divorced, Zhang Junjie also paid Shen a maintenance payment.
The year zhang and Shen formally divorced was 1925 AD, when Zhang Junjie was 39 years old and Wang Shiying was 27 years old. Also one day shortly after the official divorce, Wang Shiying agreed to Zhang Junjie's marriage proposal with the support of his friend Bingxin. At that time, the two married.
After marriage, Zhang Junjie and Wang Shiying were like gods and immortals, and she not only took care of his life but also worked hard to act as his inner helper. It can be said that the appearance of Wang Shiying has made Zhang Junjie feel a warm and sweet feeling that he has never had before.
In order to express his gratitude to his wife, Zhang Junjie often specially marked his wife's name on his translations, and on the title page of his translation of "Political Models", he featured several large characters: "I would like to dedicate this book to Lady Shiyin (Shiying) ". After that, he was not enough to "commend" his wife's participation in the book's translator's side remarks.
In Zhang Junjie's life, Wang Shiying is undoubtedly a true xiannei helper. In order to support her husband's career, she resolutely gave up her career after graduation, who had already published countless works in top publications.
For the rest of her life, Queen Shiying has been willingly being the woman behind her husband. However, the sacrifices of the women behind being politicians are not as simple as giving up their careers, they must also try to deal with any danger at any time.
In 1929, Zhang Junjie was kidnapped for attacking the Kuomintang with Al-Shabaab leader Li Huang in Shanghai for starting a magazine called New Road.
The kidnappers kidnapped Zhang Junji and called Wang Shiying the day after they asked her to take a huge sum of money to redeem her. They also threatened that if they did not take the ransom, they would cut off Zhang Junjie's head and throw it on the street. But the brainy Wang Shiying concluded that the purpose of this group of people to kidnap her husband was not money, but for political purposes. Sure enough, after his release, Zhang Junjie told his wife that he was most interrogated about "why criticize the Kuomintang."
In the tens of days since her husband was kidnapped, Wang Shiying was worried about her husband's safety while taking care of her three children, and during that time, she hardly slept a whole night. In order to save her husband, she begged for help everywhere, and in the end, under the dredging of Du Yuesheng and Zhang Taiyan, Zhang Junjie was finally released.
However, because of this kidnapping, Zhang Junjie was injured in the process of being kidnapped and left with a permanent disability.
After her husband fell disabled, Zhang Youyi was so distressed that she shed tears, but Wang Shiying calmly said to her husband: "It is good for people to live, and it is good for people to live." ”
Shortly thereafter, Zhang Junji was placed under house arrest by the Kuomintang for two years in Wangshan, on the south bank of Chongqing, for promoting the constitutional movement. During the period, the husband and wife also suffered the pain of losing their beloved son Zhang Guokang, in the face of all these blows, Zhang Junjie thought of giving up, but Wang Shiying has always encouraged her husband to insist on moving forward.
It can be said that in terms of politics and learning, Wang Shiying is a strong supporter of Zhang Junjie, and without her, there would be no later achievements in politics and philosophy.
Zhang Junjie loves his wife deeply, but as a political figure, he inevitably loves him with a weak heart. Because of their busy official duties, after marrying Wang Shiying, they always gathered less and left more. In this way, the burden of taking care of the family and the outside of the home fell on Wang Shiying's body. They had five children together, but every time they gave birth, her husband Zhang Junjie almost failed to accompany him.
It is said that a woman giving birth is like walking through the door of a ghost. But on such an important day, Zhang Junji could not accompany his wife around.
Because of his long-term active in politics, Zhang Junji left his wife and family with very little time, and naturally he rarely had time to educate his children. Therefore, most of the time, Wang Shiying is both a father and a mother. Fortunately, because she has received a good education, Wang Shiying has a very good set of education for her children.
In 1945, the 20th year of Zhang Junjie's marriage to Wang Shiying, she was pregnant with a child again at the age of 46. After becoming pregnant, a friend once instructed her: "You belong to the elderly childbirth, you can't be strong in the case of a lot of family affairs, and you must let him accompany ah, in case there is a mistake." ”
Wang Shiying also had an ominous premonition in her heart when she heard this, but in order not to affect her husband's official duties, she still did not ask him to accompany her.
Therefore, on the day of Wang Shiying's seizure in Chongqing, Zhang Junjie was attending the founding meeting of the United Nations in San Francisco. Unbeknownst to him at the time, his wife had left him forever due to childbirth before the conference was over.
On the day he learned the bad news, Zhang Junji was heartbroken. He lamented that he had since lost a "non-disciple couple, a real friend and a friend" of "Kenuchisuke", and when his friend went to comfort him, he took his friend's hand and cried like a tearful person, and he cried and shouted: "Do you know, I killed her, I killed her..."
The year after his wife's death, Zhang Junjie transported his wife's coffin from Chongqing back to Shanghai and buried it in Zhenzhi. When his wife was buried, because he missed his deceased wife so much, Zhang Junjie wrote the "Narrative of the Wife of the Dead King" to mourn his deceased wife, in which he wrote:
"When a man dies and things are there, how can the heart endure and look back... Whoops, walks again, parted ways with Junsheng, more than ten thousand miles apart, each in the sky at the end of the day, the road is obstructed for a long time, and the meeting is safe and knowable. ”
For the rest of his life, Zhang Junjie lived alone with a few children, and countless people had advised him to marry another woman, but whenever he heard this advice, he only waved his hand and said: "In this life, I will never marry again, my heart, only I can put Shi Ying alone." ”
In the 25 years since his wife's death, Zhang Junjie has focused all his attention on his career and children, and under his careful education, several of their children have become elites from all walks of life.
The first on the left is Zhang Junjie
At 6:40 p.m. on February 23, 1969, Zhang Junjie, who died at the age of 82, died of a stomach problem in a sanatorium in San Francisco, USA. Before his death, he murmured that he wanted to be buried with his wife Wang Shiying, but for various reasons, he was buried locally 6 days later.
Fortunately, even if they can't be buried together, he and she can finally be reunited in another world, and this time reunion: they will never be separated again!
