Ain Graffard's mom insisted that his divorce from his wife, Alice Evans, had nothing to do with anyone else.
Alice, a 49-year-old actress, revealed on Weibo this week that the two's 13-year marriage was poised to end, claiming he wanted to leave the family and telling her "no longer love her."
The couple has two daughters and lives in Los Angeles. They have been married since 2007.
Now, Ioan's 73-year-old mother, Margaret Griffiths, made the unfortunate news public, saying no third parties were involved.
In an interview with The Sun online, she said: "It's very sad and of course we all feel very sorry for what happened.
"But no matter what happens, the kids will come first, that's for sure."
When asked if there were any "other people," she replied, "No, no, no." ”
Margaret, who lives in Wales, added that she was unable to see her son and his family due to coronavirus restrictions, but they kept in touch over the phone.
Asked how Ioan handled the breakup, she said: "Yeah, he's fine. ”
There is no evidence that Ioan was ever unfaithful.
He previously admitted that the marriage went through a difficult period due to the separation of the two for work reasons.
The actor filmed several TV series in Australia, Harold, in which he played a forensic pathologist.
Speaking to The Guardian last February, he said: "I think we've struggled for the last four years to make time for each other because physically we're apart. ”
He said they were "practical" about it and admitted that most of the parenting work for their 11-year-old daughter Ella and 7-year-old Elsie had been handed over to Alice.
Alice announced the breakup on Twitter, which has since been removed.
