Liu Xing: Reciting classics to practice Chinese medicine "Tong Zi Gong"

The "Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Innovation and Development of Medical Education" clearly states: "Strengthen inheritance, focus on the cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine classics, increase the proportion of classic courses in traditional Chinese medicine majors, integrate traditional Chinese medicine classics into the basic and clinical courses of traditional Chinese medicine, and strengthen the cultivation of students' traditional Chinese medicine thinking". The classics of Chinese medicine are a summary of the achievements of successive generations of physicians in the study of traditional Chinese medicine theory, law, prescription and medicine, which contain the core values of the concept of life of the unity of heaven and man, the concept of treatment of dialectical treatment, the "concept of not being sick" of health care and disease prevention, and the concept of medical ethics of the doctors, which are the core elements of inheritance. In the process of cultivating higher Chinese medicine talents, classic recitation is the main starting point for strengthening the study of Chinese medicine classics, an important measure to inherit the essence of Chinese medicine, and an effective way to cultivate Chinese medicine thinking.

Classical recitation is the only way to cultivate TCM talents. Chinese medicine classics are not only the theoretical cornerstone of Chinese medicine, but also the academic crystallization of famous doctors in previous generations, and reciting Chinese medicine classics is one of the important experiences in cultivating Chinese medicine talents. The experience of famous doctors from ancient times to famous and old Chinese medicine in modern times tells us that most of those who have practiced medicine and achieved success have a solid theoretical foundation in traditional Chinese medicine, and they have made achievements on the basis of learning and studying Chinese medicine classics. A total of 87 famous Chinese medicine scholars recorded in the "The Road of Famous Old Chinese Medicine" emphasize that they pay attention to the study and recitation of classic works, and nearly 90% of famous old Chinese medicine practitioners believe that reciting classic medical books is the only way to cultivate Chinese medicine talents.

Classical recitation is an essential part of the formation of TCM thinking. Chinese medicine has a unique theoretical system and diagnosis and treatment technology, and its core is Chinese medicine thinking. In the early stage of learning Chinese medicine, if you do not memorize the classic provisions of Chinese medicine, do not accumulate Chinese medicine morpheme materials, and do not cultivate the ability of ancient Chinese language, it is not only difficult to establish a Chinese medicine thinking mode, but also the use of evidence in the later stage cannot achieve touch. As the "Medical Sect Jin Jian Fan Case" says: "If the doctor's book is not familiar, it is not clear, if it is not clear, it is not precise, the evidence is wandering, there is no definite view, and the medicine certificate is not compatible, and it is difficult to work." Classical recitation is the concrete and direct way to perceive, familiarize, and establish this mode of thinking. Therefore, in the teaching of Chinese classics, we must not only pay attention to students' understanding, but also pay attention to students' memory. With the increase in the recitation of classic texts, it can be gradually internalized into the subconscious of students, which is conducive to the formation of TCM thinking.

Grasp the five words

How to recite the scriptures? One is to "read." Recitation can not only read without reading, but must read aloud, read accurately, read repeatedly, but also see, mouth, ear, heart. Mr. Ha Litian's method of reciting the classics is to "read aloud in a secluded place, the sound comes from the mouth, the smell is in the ear, the heart is in the heart, and then in the noisy environment, he silently recalls the memorized content, the so-called 'quiet in the noise'." In this way, it is not only possible to memorize, but also to understand. Mr. Lu Zhizheng first chanted, that is, self-reading and self-listening, chanting dozens or hundreds of times, and if the water flowed in the clouds, the exit was chanted, forming a natural memory. ”

The second is to "recite." Memorization is an important way to learn the scriptures to achieve mastery. Zhu Xi said that "teaching people to read must be recited", which is "the first meaning of Taoism". Mr. Yue Meizhong also has the same view, he believes that the study of classics should be done "without thinking, open your mouth to come", when the testimony is like the source of living water, "not only can touch the machine, left and right to meet the source, but also practice can make skill, do not have the heart". Simply emphasizing comprehension and neglecting to recite will lead to "understanding when reading, unable to remember when encountering obstacles, and difficult to read when witnessing... Endorsements should be made early. ”

Third, we must "think." The classics of Chinese medicine should not only be well read and memorized, but also think, understand, and comprehend, the so-called "thinking about the purpose of the scriptures and studying what they know.". "Introduction to Medicine" requires students to "think deeply about the meaning of the classics" after reading the classics. Mr. Lu Zhizheng believes that memorization and understanding complement each other, the so-called "reading a hundred times, its meaning is self-evident"; when introducing the recitation method, he pointed out that "after low chanting, gradually slow down, while reading while experiencing the meaning of the text, the so-called 'han taste chanting', in order to understand the original text." Mr. Chen Dingsan also pointed out that in reciting the classics, it is necessary to "understand the true meaning from them" and "understand the spirit thoroughly, from the familiar to the skillful, and to be creative."

Fourth, we must be "refined." Reading is not wanting to be knowledgeable, step by step, familiar with the thinking, will be successful. Mr. Tu Recalls his uncle's teaching that "for the way of medicine, first of all, we must study the four classic works, which is fundamental." Mr. Ren Yingqiu believes that it is necessary to grasp the "dialectical relationship between refinement and knowledge", the basic theoretical part "must reach the level of proficiency and proficiency", and the non-basic part "must be extensively explored and extensively dabbled in". The classic works such as "Selected Readings of The Inner Scriptures", "Treatise on Typhoid Fever", and "Outline of the Golden Plateau" included in the "Classic Recitation Manual" are all important foundations of the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and only through repeated intensive reading and even memorization can it be flexibly applied in clinical practice and suddenly penetrated.

Fifth, it is necessary to be "specialized." If you are not attentive to the recitation of the classics, it is difficult to understand its reasoning, the so-called "thinking is single-minded, and those who do not allow shallow tasters to ask for it; learning is noble and deep, and it is not allowed to be involved in impetuous people." Zhu Xi tells us, "Scholars read books, but many sources of heart are absent, so they do not see the truth... If you are attentive, you will not see it", so "to read the text, you need to go inside and roll hard", "To read the book, you must stick your heart to the book", "Let the concentration be quiet and pure, and there is no chaos in the daily movements". Only by meditating can we concentrate, can we achieve success in learning, and can we use what we have learned.

Practice the four skills

What is the purpose of the recitation of the scriptures? I understand it to practice four kinds of skills: child skills, basic skills, peace of mind, and karma skills.

The first is Tong Zi Gong. Memorization is a traditional Chinese teaching method, and everyone may have such an experience: the ancient poems and Song Ci recited as children, although they were only mechanical memories at that time, ignorant and ignorant, did not understand their meanings, but often unforgettable and lifelong benefits. The same is true of studying TCM. For example, the Introduction to Medicine requires beginners to recite the book "paragraph by paragraph from beginning to end, without leaving a word behind. Mr. Liu Duzhou believes that the recitation should be done until the melon is ripe, and Mr. Xie Haizhou believes that it is necessary to "blurt out, like a number of family treasures", talking about practicing tongzi gong.

The second is the basic skills. "If a worker desires to do good, he must first use his weapon." Mr. Yue Meizhong believes that reading and memorizing the main classic works is a basic skill of learning Chinese medicine. Mr. Wang Jingzhai emphasized: "Familiar with the "Inner Classics" will increase people's wisdom, and the pathology can be left and right, and if you are familiar with the "Materia Medica", you will be self-contained and not limited by the ancient side, and if you are familiar with the "Typhoid Fever" and "Golden Kui", then there is a way to dialectically treat it. "Only by first memorizing the classics well and practicing the basic skills can we master the theory, accurately distinguish them in the clinic, make the drug evidence consistent, and cure the disease, and become a qualified Chinese medicine worker."

The third is the work of settling down. The ancients said: "One skill in the body, walk all over the world." A person who wants to settle down in society needs to have excellent skills, that is, to settle down. As long as you are familiar with the classics, you will surely become a Chinese medicine worker who is respected by everyone and trusted by patients.

The fourth is to make meritorious contributions. The mission of the university is to cultivate people with virtue, to educate talents for the party, to educate people for the country, as a traditional Chinese medicine college is to cultivate high-quality chinese medicine talents, famous doctors must have a solid professional foundation, holding classic recitation activities is from now on, starting from each student, starting from every teacher, solid professional quality and professional foundation, only in this way can we assume the historical mission of safeguarding the health of the people, that is, to make meritorious contributions.
