Hello everyone, I am the Pippi shrimp selected by the first Positive Da Wing. Yesterday, a farmer sent a picture of the symptoms of white radish victimization at home, asking me to help identify what kind of disease and pest. The radish skin has several dark brown round-like markings, and most of them have pore-like depressions. After my exchanges with the farmers, I judged that it was caused by the yellow curved stripe jumping armor. As a root-type harvest crop, pest control is very important, especially for open-air radish cultivation. Therefore, today I will take stock of the four common and harmful pests and control methods of radish.

Yellow curved stripe jumping beetle, commonly known as "bungee bug" or "dog lice", is a common pest of vegetables in the southern region; in addition to radish, it will also cause harm to cabbage, green cauliflower, Chinese cabbage, green vegetables, rapeseed, kale and so on. It often lays eggs in the moist soil around the plant and hatches, and the larva nibbles on the roots of the crop 3-5 cm below the soil, which also causes the symptoms of white radish damage in the picture above. When the larvae grow into adults, they can jump and fly at high temperatures, which will transfer to the leaves for gnawing hazards, resulting in many round worm holes on the leaves.

Jumping nails are more likely to survive in wet conditions, so the first thing we should pay attention to is to maintain normal dry moisture in the soil and avoid excessive humidity. Secondly, we can use 300 g/L chlorclothiazothiazide suspension for root irrigation, which can effectively kill the larvae and pupae of yellow-curved stripe in the soil. If the adult worm is already on the tree, foliar spraying can be carried out using agents such as 25% thiamethoxine water dispersible granules, 15% pyridoxine microemulsions, and 10% cyanopyridoxim dispersible oil suspensions. Vegetable gardens with severe jumping can be rotated with crops such as spinach, lettuce, carrots and onions and garlic vegetables.

Vegetable insects can be said to be the enemy of leafy vegetable cultivation, the upcoming autumn is the peak of the outbreak of vegetable insects, we must pay attention to early prevention and control. The green worms will use larvae to nibble on the leaf flesh on the back of the leaf, leaving a thin and transparent skin, which we commonly call "open skylight". After a full meal, the green worms will also excrete a large amount of excrement on the leaves, which is easy to cause soft rot.

Vegetable green insect hazards

Adult cabbage worms are what we often call "vegetable powder butterflies", which are often white with a small number of black spots; they will lay eggs on the back of the leaves of the plant, bringing the second round of harm of the green worms. Therefore, if you find the figure of vegetable powder butterfly in the garden, you must also be vigilant and pay attention to prevention and control. In the initial stage, 1-3% calcium superphosphate can be sprayed on the leaves, which can effectively kill the eggs and have a foliar fertilization effect. In addition, if the harm is more serious, it is also possible to spray BT (Bacillus thuringiensis) 800-1000 times liquid, high-efficiency cypermethrin, methyl vitamin salt, chlorantranilipros, benzamide and so on.

Twill moths are most infested in July, August and September, and tend to hide in grass or soil during the day and harm at night. Similar to the cabbage worm, adults of the twill moth lay their eggs on the back of the leaf, and the larvae concentrate on the back of the leaf to nibble on the leaf flesh at the beginning of hatching. Twill nocturnal moth larvae are easier to identify and tend to have brightly colored patterns. Their adults are more typical of moth forms, grey-brown and covered with patterns.

Effective drugs for the control of twill noctus larvae are generally permethrins and organophosphorus, such as methylphenidate, insect mite nitrile, chloryanide chlorpyrifos, avermectin and so on. Twill nocturnal moths generally come out at night to harm, so the effect of evening medication is better. For the more mature twill moth larvae and adults, it is best to spray the two agents mixed or rotate the use of the agent to achieve the effect. You can choose between methylphenidal salt + chlorpyrifos, methylvidyl + insect mite nitrile, chlorpyrifos + indigovir, methyl vitamin salt + cypermethrin and so on. It should be noted that the twill moth has a suspended death, and the insect carcass on the ground should be removed in time after spraying.
