Ground tigers are one of the most harmful underground pests during crop seedlings, mainly corn, tobacco, potatoes, cotton, vegetables and other crops. Young larvae will bite the young leaves of the seedlings, and the young leaves will have holes or lack of carvings, while the middle-aged and elderly larvae will bite off the base of the crop seedlings, and the plants will slowly die, resulting in the lack of seedlings and ridges. The ground will become bare and need to be rebroadcast, which will have a great impact on agricultural production.
Every year, the treatment of "ground tigers" is a headache for growers, and energy and money are spent, but the effect is very poor. Today, combined with my production experience, I will share with you the control methods of 6 "ground tigers", and also treat pests such as grubs, moths, and golden needle worms.
Ground tigers are "completely metamorphosed" insects, whose development passes through the stages of eggs, larvae, pupae and adults, and the most harmful to crops is the larvae, and the body surface of the larvae is black-brown and the body surface is rough. The most suitable temperature for larval life is 15 to 26 °C, and in winter the larvae and pupae overwinter in the soil, and the adults overwinter in grass, grass piles, under stones and other places.
Ground tigers prefer warm and humid environments, so the plots along the river, low-lying plots, plots with higher groundwater tables, irrigated land, overgrown plots, plots flooded last year, plots with strong water retention, and clay loam soils correspond to large insect population densities.
The spring and autumn seasons of each year are the most harmful times for ground tigers, and the spring and autumn seasons are the seasons of "spring sowing and autumn planting", so it is particularly important to master the prevention and control methods of ground tigers.
The prevention and control of local tigers should be based on prevention, and through the combination of agricultural control and chemical control, it is easy to kill local tigers.
First, plough the land before sowing the crops
Ground tigers like to hide on the surface during the day (coming out at night to get food, most active from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.), and by ploughing the soil, they can be killed mechanically or preyed by predators. Cleaning the weeds on the edge of the field when ploughing the soil can effectively reduce the feeding of adult insects to lay eggs and larvae, and the cleaned weeds can be placed in the corner of the ground and burned centrally.
Note: If it is a winter idle field, we are best to carry out winter farming, winter ploughing can destroy the overwintering place of underground pests, and the pests that are turned to the surface will be dried and frozen to death.
Second, when sowing or transplanting, it is combined with the preparation of the land to sprinkle poisonous soil
Sprinkling poisonous soil in the soil can efficiently kill the ground tiger, we can sprinkle octinophos granules when sowing or transplanting, octyl thion is a broad-spectrum insecticide, low toxicity to humans and animals, underground pests have a touch and stomach poisoning effect, very suitable for the prevention and control of underground pests.
Operation method: When sowing or transplanting, we can use 2 kg of 5% octyl thion granules per mu, mix 15 kg of fine soil to sprinkle on the surface, and turn into the soil, which can effectively kill the ground tiger in the soil.
Third, the ground tiger likes to suck the juice with a sweet and sour taste, and we can use sweet and sour liquid to booby trap
Ground tigers are very sensitive to sweet and sour liquids, so we can use sweet and sour solutions for booby traps. The prepared sweet and sour liquid can be placed in a small lid, 20 places per acre, and the booby trap effect of the ground tiger is very good, and it can trap the larvae and adults.
Operation method: We can take 1 part of white wine, 3 parts of vinegar, 6 parts of sugar, 10 parts of water, and then add 1 part of 90% dimethodic insect crystals, mix well and place in the field to trap a variety of underground pests.
This method is green and environmentally friendly, does not cause pesticide residues, and can effectively prevent ground tigers from nibbling on seedlings during the crop seedling stage.
Fourth, for watering the ground, you can use medicament to irrigate the roots
For watering, we can use 300 grams of 50% octyl thiophosphorus emulsion oil and 500 kg of water for irrigation, which can also effectively kill underground pests in the soil.
Fifth, mix "poisonous bait" during the crop growth period for booby-trapping
Ground tigers like to eat wheat bran, bean cake, cornmeal, we can arbitrarily choose a kind of bait that we have at home, stir-fry every 5 kg of bait into 10 grams of 90% enemy insect crystals, add water to moisturize and sprinkle between the ridges of the field, the same can effectively trap the ground tiger.
We can also use 30 kg of fresh grass per mu, chop and mix in 90% of the enemy insect crystals 50 grams, and evenly place the poisonous grass pile between the ridges in the evening, which can effectively poison the tiger.
This method is simple, convenient and environmentally friendly, and can effectively reduce the density of the insect population. Since ground tigers like to eat at night, we place poisonous bait in the evening.
Sixth, spray chemical pesticides at the seedling stage of crops
Ground tigers mainly feed on plant seedlings, so we can spray chemical pesticides during the seedling stage of crops (two leaves and one heart), which can effectively control ground tigers.
We can spray with 20 ml of 50% octylthion emulsion, or 20 ml of 40% cypermethrin emulsion, or 25 ml of 90% dimethoatecrystal crystals and mixed with 30 kg of water for spraying (diluted 2000 to 3000 times). If the pest is severe, we can spray it every 10 days and spray it 2 times in a row.
Special attention: early detection and early prevention are the keys to controlling tiger pests. In agricultural production, as long as there are land tigers in the field, it is a good time to use medicine.
To sum up, the ground tiger will harm the seedlings, resulting in uneven emergence of seedlings, seedling wilting, and seedlings cannot be guaranteed, so the land with high incidence of ground tigers must be prevented and controlled in time to ensure the normal growth of seedlings.
