The 32nd International Conference on Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS2021), hosted by the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences, ICAS and hosted by the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (CSAA), was successfully held at Shangri-La Hotel, Shanghai on September 6. Nearly 800 delegates from more than 40 countries attended the conference online or offline. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter, hoping that the conference will play a positive role in promoting global aviation science and technology cooperation and bring more benefits to people around the world.

Zhang Xinguo, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chief Scientist of the China Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Distinguished Professor of Tsinghua University, and member of the ICAS Executive Committee, made an academic report on "Digital Engineering Transformation and Innovation" for the conference, and won the ICAS "ICAS Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Memorial Lecture Award". ICAS Chairman Professor Shinji Suzuki (Japan) invited Lin Zuo ming, chairman of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, to present the award to Zhang Xinguo on behalf of ICAS. Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, and ICAS Chairman Joao Azevedo (Brazil) and other important guests attended the award ceremony.

Founded in 1956, ICAS is an important international academic organization in the international aviation science and technology community, ICAS conference enjoys the reputation of the "Olympic Congress" of the aviation science and technology community, held every two years, the conference content involves all fields of aviation science, and follows the historical tradition to issue a series of global awards, for rewarding individuals and projects that have made outstanding contributions to aviation progress and international cooperation, and is one of the most influential international academic activities in the field of global aviation science and technology. After many rounds of bidding, the Chinese Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics won the right to undertake, after 29 years of the conference landed in China again, China's aviation science and technology and industrial progress is no longer the past, the conference has attracted the world's attention.

The Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Prize was established in 1957 as a distinguished lecture to commemorate the Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Foundation, which initiated and strongly supported the promotion of international cooperation in aeronautical science, and was first awarded by von Carmen, the most outstanding aerospace scientist of the 20th century. At the 18th International Conference of Aeronautical Science in 1992, Academician Zhuang Fenggan, then vice president of the Chinese Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, made an academic report on "Vortex Control Technology" for the conference and won the ICAS "Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Award".
