Disney's live-action film The Little Mermaid has been announced, and the film will be released in North America on May 26, 2023. The live-action version of "The Little Mermaid" is adapted from Disney's classic animation, which tells the story of the mermaid princess who makes a deal with the sea witch, exchanging her voice for her legs to travel to the human world.
The heroine of the live-action version of The Little Mermaid, Ariel, will be played by Harley Bailey, Jonah Hawer-King will play Prince Eric, Javier Baden will play Ariel's father, King Triton, Melissa McCarthy will play the villain Ursula, Jacob Trembla will play Ariel's friends Flounder and Seagull Scuttle, and David Diggers will play red crab Sebastian.
The film will be directed by Rob Marshall, written by Jane Goodman, and will be composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and legendary Disney composer Alan Manken.
