1. Hibernation death
(1) Causes:
Before hibernation, the turtle's physique is poor, and the temperature and cold weather during the hibernation period make it difficult for the turtle to bear to cause death.
The turtle did not replenish nutrition in time before hibernation in autumn, and the nutrients stored in the body could not meet the needs of the hibernation period, resulting in hibernation or death after hibernation.

(2) Symptoms:
The sick turtle is thin, the limbs are weak and weak, the head is shrunk into the shell, the eyes are concave, and the back is dark black and dull.
(3) Prevention:
When the temperature is high in summer and autumn, the amount of feeding to the turtle should be increased to ensure that the turtle's body storage is sufficient to resist the cold.
For hibernating turtles, the water temperature should also be kept constant, and it is best to warm feed the young turtles weighing less than 50g to avoid death.
Second, turtle and tortoise rot nail disease
(1) Symptoms:
Tortoise rot onychomycosis is also known as rotten shell disease, cave disease, perforation disease.
(2) Causes and prevention:
The cause of nail rot is simple, mainly due to the pollution of the water quality in which the turtle lives, and bacteria cause the turtle to become ill, especially the injured turtle is more susceptible to infection.
Therefore, for the owner of the turtle, diligently changing the water and maintaining the environmental hygiene of the turtle's life is the most effective way to prevent nail rot.
3. Rot nail disease
(1) Cause: caused by bacterial infection.
(2) Symptoms: One or more pieces of the turtle's back carapace are rotten and blackened, sometimes decaying into a lack of carving, and the abdominal nail is also decayed, especially in the spring, winter and wintering period or late wintering.
(3) Prevention: As with rotten nails, it is necessary to give the turtle enough nutrition in peacetime, be diligent in changing the water, and ensure the hygiene of the living environment of the turtle!
4. Leuko-eye disease
(1) Causes: Eye injuries or poor water quality, irritation of the eyes and cause the sick turtle to rub the eyes with the forelimbs, infected with bacteria.
(2) Symptoms: The eye area of the sick turtle is inflamed and hyperemic, the eyes are swollen, and the appearance of the eyeball is covered by white secretions. The sick turtle was slow to move, stopped feeding, became blind in severe cases, and finally died of wasting due to the turtle's waste food. The disease is more common in autumn, winter and after the initial awakening from hibernation, and the incidence of green turtles is higher.
(3) Prevention: strengthen management, before and after wintering, when starting to eat, strengthen nutrition, enhance disease resistance, and the environment should be sufficiently hygienic This is the focus!
5. Colds
(1) Causes and conditions:
Colds are acute upper respiratory tract infections, most of which are caused by viruses.
Excessive temperature difference, sudden cold stimulation, long-distance transportation, etc. are the main causes of turtle colds. Clinical symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, drowsiness, frequent forelimbs scratching the eyes, nasal congestion, reluctance to go into the water, etc., and occasional vomiting of mucus, severe appetite loss or abandonment.
