"Breaking Night" was translated as "Wind and Rain Harvard Road," and I don't really agree with it. Although it tells the story of a strong, homeless girl who is admitted to Harvard, only a small part of the book is made up from the author's decision to go to Harvard and finally to Harvard. Being admitted to Harvard was only the end of the book, not the author's end, nor her goal in writing the book.

The book explains the meaning of "breaking night", that is, staying up all night until dawn. The reason why the author uses this title, I think, is because sleepless all night is the state of life that she is accustomed to.

Her parents were addicted to drugs, and from the age of a few years, she used to watch by the window all night to look for her parents who went out to look for drugs, hoping that they would return home safely in the face of hunger; when she grew up, her father went to prison, her mother went to a mental hospital, she was displaced, she didn't know where she was going at night every day, and she often wandered aimlessly all night in the city; later, when she had the idea of changing her destiny, she began to study all night to make up for the time she had been wandering. Therefore, the night was a time she knew perfectly well.

In breaking night, in addition to night, there is also a breaking, which is a powerful verb that I read and feel has the meaning of conquering and breaking. It seems that the sleepless night is not only because of the passage of time, but also because she actively disintegrated the night and ushered in the sunrise.

After reading the whole book, such a sense of initiative and strength is very touching, making the translated name of "Wind and Rain Harvard Road" seem relatively flat and pale.

I also feel that this is not just an inspirational book, it is also a book about love. The author's parents couldn't be worse, with a little money to buy drugs, and there were two hungry girls in the house. The author and sister can only eat a full meal every month on the day of receiving the benefit. Even so, the author never complained about her parents, she was always worried about them, and she knew they had no way. If there was to be hate, she only hated that drugs had taken their sanity. We always sing the praises of the greatness of the mother's love of the father's love, and I think the love of the child is also great, because it is the same unconditional.

There are other types of love in the book, brotherly love, male and female love, friend love, stranger love... This multitude of love, like pearls, wrapped her helpless childhood and wandering youth layer by layer, making her life gradually round, soft, full and bright!

The book's last sentence: "Life takes on the meaning that you give it." (Whatever meaning you give to life, life has meaning.) The author gives life love and persistence, and her life reaps love and light. I hope that even if we are in difficulty, we will not forget to give love, even in the face of adversity, we will not forget to move forward, because no matter how long the night is, it will eventually usher in the sunrise.
