This test drive is the lowest UX200 special edition, and it is also the only regular powertrain model currently on sale in the entire UX series (you have to ask the UX200 F-Sport?). 1. Appearance

For UX, to a certain extent, it is necessary to replace the old CT car series, and the refinement and agility of youth are obviously the most need to be reflected, and I subjectively believe that the designers have reflected these two points very well, and the manufacturer has also given a very rich and lively appearance color. Or put a few pictures, take a more casual picture, the real car can really give people a completely different sense of refinement and visual impact - even my mother can fall in love with it at a glance.

2. Interior
Overall, the refinement of the interior can be said to be even greater than the appearance. The delicate leather wrapped around the outer ring of the steering wheel, making people eager to stroke while driving, and when they stopped in place, they couldn't help but want to put on the hand plate twice; the dashboard that looked like it was but not exactly the liquid crystal was deep in my heart, and there was a detailed "LEXUS" logo under the instrument, and there were also "small ears" on both sides that controlled the driving mode and the body stability system, so that I would not feel inferior because I was driving the entry Lexus; although the central control screen was indeed small, the black edge was also wide enough to seem to be able to park two aircraft carriers horizontally. But the Lexus fine traditional quartz clock on the side suddenly pulled the sense of grade back. Coupled with the ingenious and extremely easy to use, very suitable for blind operation of the sound control area, a variety of colors of the double color leather seat (should be imitation leather, but does not affect the excellent texture), for my kind of detail control, the interior of the UX is enough to make me have the impulse to buy.

Despite this, the details of the materials still expose the fact that the UX car series is the lowest positioned within the brand. The hard plastic texture of the details under the center console or under the door and so on is really not good, and it must be described that it is not much different from my 07 Camry feeling, which is a very obvious, difficult to describe, but at a glance, it is the plastic texture of the Japanese and Korean cars, and even the top of the two door panels in the rear row also uses a large area of hard plastic - the same part in the front row is the use of the texture of the best soft material, this problem is the same as the seventh generation golf a few years ago. It's a bit of a pull down the brand. And UX car machine is not easy to use, Lexus car machine is not easy to use the thing is not a day or two, although the habit of using the laptop touchpad I can use this trackpad to control the car machine relatively smoothly, but the interface design does need to be updated, the internal logic is not so easy to understand, may the only advantage is not to stutter and crash?

3. Ride space and feeling
The front row is naturally no problem, for me everything is very good, the sitting posture can be adjusted very low, very in line with my driving habits, after the adjustment of the head space can also have a punch or so, the door panel armrest and the central armrest can also be well mounted on my two arms, the steering wheel adjustable range is also very large, the adaptability to drivers of different sizes is also very strong. The seat comfort is also very good, the leather is good, the softness and hardness are moderate, the waist support effect is obvious, it can support my waist in place, and the overall chair type can also better wrap my body, I would like to be able to sit on this excellent texture seat for a while.

The rear row is basically not where this car should be considered, as can be seen from the appearance ratio, UX does not seem to care too much about the rear row, open the back door that is not large, and find that the actual opening size is even smaller than the door. But the space is still a bit unexpected for me, after sitting up straight, the legs can basically have a space close to two fists, the head can also have a punch, it can still put me more comfortably, if you are tall and want to slip out of the way to sit a little, it is not particularly uncomfortable, after all, the back of the front seat is also soft leather, even if the knee has been up, it will not feel uncomfortable. The overall riding experience is not bad, the softness and hardness of the cushion and the backrest are relatively moderate, the length of the cushion is not satisfactory, and the angle of the backrest is somewhat steep. In addition, the biggest problem in the rear row is actually that there is no space under the main driver's seat, sitting in the back seat, there is no way to fully extend the foot to the main driver's seat, the toe is almost stuck, which affects the rear sitting posture, if the height is above 175CM, the leg support of the rear row is estimated to be not too good.

There was a small problem, that day in the exhibition hall met a relatively burly brother, in the test ride UX he said that the front two seats are relatively narrow, the center console intrusion is more obvious, feel like a person trapped in the seat, from the main driver when the knee will bump to the dashboard. For my short-legged thin man with a net height of 170cm more and a weight of almost only 63KG, there is no problem with the front and back space, but if the individual or family member is more robust, it is recommended to try the space in person, not only the front row may be a little crowded, but also the front row may be barely stuffed into a you, and the back row can really only put the bag.
4. Storage space
The front storage space can only be said to be "reactive and faultless", and there are normal places where there should be storage compartments, but the storage space is not large, and there are not many things. Open the slender side opening central handrail, you can see that the central armrest box is a regular rectangle, but limited by the width of the car, the width of the armrest is also limited, the armrest box is naturally not wide enough to go anywhere; the center console can not find other serious storage compartments except for the two cup holders, if you must say, the small platform in front of the cup holder can barely put the mobile phone, but it is easy to be thrown out, and when the power interface is opened, the remaining space can not put down a mainstream smartphone at all. The storage space of the door panel is normal enough to hold water and other debris.

The storage space in the rear row is basically gone, combined with the riding space, it can also be seen that the UX may not have considered the rear row at all from the beginning of the original design, except for the two small cup holders on the central armrest, there is no normal storage space on the two doors, only the door handle can barely put a little bit of debris, and there is only a poor storage bag behind the two seats in the front row. So the best use scenario of UX is to sit only 2-3 people every day, the back row is mostly used as a storage space, just to make up for the front row storage space is not so much problem, the relatively small leg space is also convenient for me to put items placed in the back seat from the front row - after all, even "small space is also conducive to front and rear communication".

Trunk space... Forget it, everyone looks at the picture by themselves, this space can be said to be really just "ok can be used". I also compared the UX300e of the pure electric version next to it, and the trunk space was even deeper than the fuel version due to the cancellation of the spare tire. It is recommended not to use the spare tire to make the space that is not rich worse, although the UX200's trunk cover has a very good texture, which is several grades better than the UX300e's soft collapsed cover.

5. Driving experience
Here we have to compare the C-HR, UX must be in the eyes of many people is just a "hardcover version" C-HR, especially after the UX200 is equipped with a 2.0 naturally aspirated engine, even I think the feeling of power output should be almost the same. But it turned out I was dead wrong.
As soon as the car adjusted the seat and rearview mirror, tap the throttle to start, this small and exquisite UX200 did not give me the imaginary power response, the laziness of the first section of the throttle let me carefully check whether there was a mistake to open the ECO mode - but no, in the Normal mode, the car's throttle response was surprisingly lazy, completely without the light pleasure of C-HR / Yize, only after stepping on about 1/4, the smooth power output of the natural aspirated engine will continue to flow, It doesn't flow out abruptly.

In addition to this surprising power output characteristics, this car has no other problems driving, 2.0L + CVT this pair of high-efficiency powertrains that can be called a golden combination represent the technical level of the Toyota Group in the new era, can bring the driver an absolutely smooth output feeling, whether it is low-speed slow driving or smooth driving, or want to suddenly ravage the accelerator pedal, this set of powertrains can bring people a very satisfactory feeling, the response can be said to be smooth and fast, but the speed is not counted , a calmer mindset would be fine (sport mode should be much better, it is recommended to be interested in test driving in person, because I did forget to try). The brake pedal foot feel can give a big praise, the foot feel is solid and the brake force output is linear, which can basically meet the normal brake request, which is very satisfactory.
6. Control
I've always had a soft spot for this type of car, with a short physique and a flexible driving feel, perfect for moving around in a busy city. At this point, the UX200 did not disappoint me, even if the official positioning of it is a small SUV, but I can completely use it as a hatchback with a chassis slightly higher than a little bit to drive, the body followability is also very strong, when changing lanes, the front and rear of the car do not have any sense of disconnection, when I use a relatively high speed to throw it into the corner will not feel the scary roll, suspension support is completely justified, daily in the rapid lane change or turn do not need to worry too much about the posture of the car.

Although the steering feel is not perfect, some are heavy, the swing force is also relatively large, compared to the C-HR light and smooth and accurate steering feel, UX200 is more like a thick layer of butter smeared in the steering column, but the overall feel is definitely not bad, I personally still prefer to have a little heavy steering, so for me UX200 steering feel can also give praise.
7、 NVH
The sound insulation effect of UX200 is completely in line with my expectations, in the test drive of the road can only drive up to 70km / h speed, so the noise in the high-speed situation is unknown, but the wind noise and road noise control at low and medium speed are very good, I am used to listening to music when driving, open a little music can not care about those noises, even if it is the lowest, the sound effect is still good. However, the noise of the 2.0 naturally aspirated engine when the big throttle is accelerating sharply is still a bit noisy, and the engine sound insulation in the high-rotation state still needs to be strengthened - but I subjectively think that this car is not suitable for driving like this, so let's still pass it. Tire noise is a part that needs to be praised, before seeing the real car I did not expect that the UX200 will be equipped with Michelin Primacy 4 series tires, tire noise control is indeed worthy of the name, in the case of wind noise road noise is not large or basically imperceptible.

The filter effect of the chassis can give a medium to a large evaluation, the main problem is that there will be some subtle tremors when passing through the potholed road surface or speed reduction belt at low and medium speeds, and it seems that the problem is not big if it is not carefully experienced, and the small vibrations can basically be directly erased, and I do not intend to classify it as a disadvantage. However, as a luxury brand of exquisite cars, subtle tremors really affect the "high-end feeling" of the car. Speed increase some feeling will be much better, you can feel that the chassis is not pure "soft", but with some tenacity, in this state after the pothole when the filter feeling is not bad, perhaps the high flat ratio of the soft tire also played a certain help, although the visual effect is a lot worse - the impression of the previous ride F-Sport version of the UX260h, did not feel that the chassis is so comfortable, the filter feeling is more rigid, but the sports version of the big tire does look a lot better.
8. Cost performance and market situation
In my inherent thinking, I have never felt that the UX market segment car series can be linked to the word "cost performance", but the actual market situation still brings me some surprises. Only for my region, for the UX200 special edition with a list price of 259,000 yuan, the market discount can reach more than 20,000 yuan, and the sales clearly indicate that there is still a relatively large room for negotiation to be purchased (perhaps because it is not easy to sell), which means that the price of its terminal naked car is only more than 230,000 yuan, the all-inclusive landing is more than 260,000 yuan, and there is a free warranty maintenance of four years / 100,000 kilometers, which really feels very fragrant for me personally!

Putting aside my personal preferences, I think that UX as a daily grocery cart for female members of the family or elders, or a scooter for young people who have just graduated from society, or a small family's own car are very suitable, most importantly, must not have too much expectation of the rear space, take the bag, but also make up for the problem of small trunk space, the extra two doors are for emergency time than the two-door car is much more decent than the two-door car, some of the province's broken relatives nagging you why buy an impractical two-door car, Is not a waste of money.
