Born in 1898, Wang Gemei was one of the founders of the Communist Party of China and an early organizer and leader of the Shandong Party organization. In 1919, he participated in the May Fourth Patriotic Movement and was elected as one of the leaders of the Shandong Student Federation. After the establishment of the Marxist Theory Research Association of Peking University in March 1920, it was developed into a foreign port member. In the winter of the same year, together with Deng Enming and others, he initiated the establishment of the Lixin Society and published the semi-monthly magazine "Lixin".

In the spring of 1921, Wang Gemei initiated the creation of the early organization of the Communist Party of Jinan. In July, he went to Shanghai to attend the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and later served as the secretary of the Shandong Branch of the CPC and the director of the Shandong Branch of the Secretariat of the China Labor Union. In January 1922, he participated in the First Congress of Communist Parties and National Revolutionary Groups of the Far East in Moscow. In July, he attended the Second National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai. After the meeting, he remained in the Central Committee to lead the workers' movement. He participated in the formulation of the Outline of the Labor Law, successively led the strike struggle in Shanhaiguan, Qinhuangdao and other places, and was one of the members of the strike headquarters of the Kailuan Minmetals General Alliance. In November 1922, he led the establishment of a party organization at Shanhaiguan. In February 1923, he was arrested by the reactionary authorities and released after being rescued by workers. Later, he returned to Shandong and presided over the overall work of the Shandong Party. In January 1924, he participated in the First National Congress of the Chinese Kuomintang held in Guangzhou. In November, he was appointed Secretary of the Shandong Local Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China. In January 1925, he attended the Fourth National Congress of the Communist Party of China. In February, he organized the Qingdao National Assembly to promote the meeting and participated in leading the Jiaoji Railway Workers' Strike. Due to long-term overwork, he died in Qingdao on August 19, 1925, at the age of 27.
