Qilu Grand Pulpit | Wang Jun: My grandfather Wang Zhimei

"Actually I didn't meet my grandfather, I asked my father, the books say he is a great man, why is he great? My father's answer at that time was also very simple, 'He died of exhaustion for many people, many people will miss him, and the person who is remembered by many people is a great person'. This is Wang Jun's understanding of the "greatness" of his grandfather Wang Zhimei when he was a child.

Recently, Wang Jun, one of the founders of the Communist Party of China, the founder of the Shandong Party organization and the grandson of Wang Gemei, an early leader, visited the Qilu Grand Forum and talked about the story of Wang Gemei from a photo, a name, a poem and the inheritance of family style.

A photograph buried in the earth wall

Among the 13 founders of our party, Wang Gemei left very few information photos, and in a long period of history, only one photo of him has survived. Wang Jun said that this photo was taken in 1923, when Wang Gemei was already a professional revolutionary, and he gathered less with his family, so he deliberately went to the photo studio to take a photo to make a thought for his family.

Because there were many bandits in Wang Gemei's hometown at that time, in order to prevent the photo from being robbed by bandits, Wang Gemei's mother, Wang Jun's grandmother, wrapped the photo in paper and rags and put it in a hole in the wall, and then used mud to paste it, so that the photo could be preserved. "Once buried in the wall, it's been more than 20 years."

After the founding of New China, Chairman Mao Zedong explained to Comrade Ma Baosan, the leader of Shandong, that in the victory of the revolution, we should not forget the old comrades, and that Shandong should collect the relics of the martyr Wang Gemei and sort out his materials. Mao Zedong also introduced Wang Gemei as having "big ears, rectangular face, thin and tall stripes, calm and generous speech, and very eloquent, and everyone affectionately called him 'Wang Big Ears'."

Later, the relevant staff came to Beiying Village, Zhucheng, Wang Gemei's hometown. "At that time, only my grandmother was at home, and I was very touched to know that the founding leader had sent people to visit the house. But when she said that she wanted to collect Wang Quanmei's relics, the grandmother cried, saying that there was no more, and there was no more. She had forgotten at the time that there was still that picture in the wall. Wang Jun said that thanks to the staff carefully, accompanied by the grandmother slowly thought about it before remembering. The photos dug out of the wall are dirty and blurry, but the staff still brought them back to Jinan like a treasure, looking for a photo studio to repair, retake and enlarge, and only then did they have this standard photo hanging in memorial places across the country today.

Perfection is liberation

Wang Jun said that Wang Gemei had changed her name three times. When he was born, because his family was poor, his name was "warehouse hoarding", hoping to have the meaning of eating grain. Later, Mr. Teaching gave him the big name Ruijun (瑞俊), the character Zhuo Zhai (卓斋); the third time was that after he attended the first congress of the Communist Party of China, he wrote a poem, one of which was called "Perfection and Perfection is Liberation", and he took the word "Perfection" as his name.

In Wang Jun's view, the founders of the party accepted Marxism and established their belief in communism as a very arduous process. "At that time, there were many ideological trends and ideas for saving the country and the people, and they made difficult analysis and judgments in these ideological trends and roads, and the ideological struggle was quite fierce."

Later, Wang Gemei established his guiding ideology as Marxism, established his belief in communism, and founded the Communist Party of China with like-minded people, giving rise to the style of the red boat. "He changed his name to the word 'perfect' to show his determination to fight for his faith to the end."

"Now we are all talking about learning the spirit of Wang Quanmei, what is the spirit of Wang Quanmei? I personally understand that Wang Quanmei's revolutionary spirit can be condensed into 4 words, that is, 'perfection and perfection'. Wang Jun said that there are three meanings here: First, we must firmly believe in a perfect theory, which is Marxist theory, thus establishing a perfect belief, that is, the belief in communism. As a revolutionary, it is not enough to have theory and faith, but to carry out perfect social practice for this faith. "Wang Gemei dedicated only 27 years of his life to his faith, and it should be said that his social practice is perfect, so this is the third point, he has become a perfect person."

Zheng Zheng Qiao has to see the vicissitudes

"The sinking and floating who asks the vast, the past and the present have come and gone on the battlefield, the tail cement sand slants into the sea, and Zheng Zhengqiao has seen the vicissitudes." The poem was written in 1918 before Wang Gemei left her hometown at the age of 20 to study in Jinan.

Because she wanted to leave her hometown to study, Wang Gemei came to a mountain in the southeast direction of the village, this mountain was originally called "Southeast Ridge", which belonged to the landlord, and a poor boy like Wang Gemei could not go up the mountain to dig wild vegetables casually. At that time, Wang Gemei felt that this was very unfair, so he had an idea, wanting to move this mountain to everyone sooner or later, so he changed this mountain to "Qiao You" Mountain.

At the time of this poem, Wang Gemei was not yet a communist, but he already felt that he had to raise a question mark about the changes in the world and the changes in human society. What is the purpose of social change? He wanted to take the question mark to learn, to enrich himself to answer the question mark, so he had this verse "Who asks the sky", and "ask the sky" is actually asking himself. "This poem is very majestic, expressing his ideals and yearnings for an aspiring young man, so everyone commented that he was less ambitious."

The revolutionary wind will always spread

"If we talk about heritage, what my grandfather left to our family is a very precious thing, which is a sentence, which is ' I hope that all comrades will work well and fight to the end for the liberation of the proletariat and all mankind and the complete realization of communism'."

And Wang Zhimei's descendants did indeed do this.

Wang Jun's parents, both of whom were members of the Eighth Route Army, joined the Communist Party-led ranks and joined the Communist Party during the anti-Japanese flames. In 2000, on the 65th anniversary of his parents' marriage, Mr. Wang said, his father wrote a poem about their married life. "Comrades from the same township join the army, old husbands, old wives, old acquaintances, one faith in one lifetime, a peaceful and pure heart, relying on each other in the morning and evening for sixty-five years, born into death, regretting to the present, bittersweet and sad, not grass and trees, the stars and the sun and the moon reflecting each other." Wang Jun, who was also a soldier, believes that this poem is written about the eternal theme of human beings, "love", which reflects a revolutionary couple fighting in the flames and smoke, both their own revolutionary ideals and strong love, so they have gone through such a long life course together, "This is where I admire my parents the most." ”

Wang Jun's father left them a picture with the inscription "Ancestors and Grandchildren Strive to Pass on from Generation to Generation", and the content of the word was "Jing Loyal to the Country". "These 4 words tell us to be loyal to the nation and serve the country, and I think these 4 words can be used as our family style."
