Culture: Late Neolithic culture in the upper reaches of the Yellow River
Located 10 kilometers southwest of Lintao County, Gansu Province, the Ruins of Mayugou on the west bank of the Tao River, the Ruins of Mayugou are the sites of the Neolithic to Bronze Age in the upper reaches of the Yellow River. First discovered and excavated in 1924, the site is 280 meters wide from north to south, 350 meters long from east to west, and about 90,000 square meters.
The site culture is rich in connotation, including the Yangshao culture temple bottom ditch type, Majiayao culture Shilingxia type, Majiayao type, Mid-Levels type, Machang type and Qijia culture, Xindian culture, Siwa culture, etc., of which the Majiayao type is the most abundant, Majiayao culture or Majiayao type is named after this.
The site is of great value and significance for the study of the Majiayao culture and the prehistoric cultures of the upper reaches of the Yellow River. In 1988, the State Council of the People's Republic of China announced it as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
