Nanjing Massacre, which is an unprecedented catastrophe in human history, and the unbearable scenes of the martyrdom of more than 300,000 compatriots seem to have occurred yesterday, and are still vividly remembered, because this humiliating history has become a collective memory of the Chinese nation and will always be remembered!

On December 13, 1937, when tens of thousands of Japanese troops attacked the ancient Zhonghua Gate in Nanjing, the Officers and Soldiers of the Japanese Army who took to the streets of Nanjing, killing both soldiers and innocent people when they saw people, became the ghosts of these beast soldiers, and the atrocities of the Japanese army caused great chaos among the military and the people in the city, thus opening the prelude to the Nanjing Massacre.
So, how miserable was the fate of the rich lady at the time of the Nanjing Massacre? Today, through the personal experience of a Taiwan veteran, I will unveil to you that period of history that cannot be looked back.
In December 1937, the troops guarding Nanjing were almost all Kuomintang troops, and after the defeat of the Nanjing Defense War, only a very small number of the 100,000 troops escaped from the Nanjing Massacre, and these surviving Kuomintang soldiers continued to participate in the anti-Japanese army until after the founding of New China, and some veterans went to Taiwan with Chiang Kai-shek.
Although these anti-Japanese war veterans are in Taiwan, these survivors of the Nanjing Massacre still remember the catastrophe and write many memoirs. In this way, we warn future generations to remember history and not forget the national shame!
Here is a clip of the memories of one of the signed "Taiwan veterans":
"On the morning of the 12th, the enemy army had already entered the city of Nanjing. With the exception of a few troops in the city who resisted, most of the troops experienced terrible scenes of rout. When the Japanese army pursued us along the North Zhongshan Road toward the retreating troops and civilians of the Jiangmen Xiaguan, the phenomenon of internecine killing by our army even occurred. Dead and wounded, corpses were strewn along the way. I was hoisted out of the city with a rope from the city wall by the water west gate, and as soon as I reached the river, I saw a small wooden boat not far from the shore. Because of the loading too much, it immediately sank, and one of them, a very beautiful and dressed lady, after falling into the river, held a small leather suitcase in her left hand and a wooden board in her right hand, and shouted for help in the river. She said that if someone could save her life, she was willing to give her jewelry and 200,000 yuan in cash, and she was willing to marry him. But at this time, everyone is still not in time to take care of themselves, and who can still do things that are urgent and righteous, and that people and wealth are both gained? ”
Through the above recollection of this Taiwan veteran, we can clearly understand that after the Japanese army invaded the city of Nanjing, the entire Nanjing military and civilian chaos rushed to flee to Xiaguan and cross the river, and the tragic situation was extremely tragic.
In particular, the encounter of a beautiful rich lady mentioned by the veteran is even more shocking, in the process of rushing to escape, the temptation of money and beauty has become a cloud of smoke in the past for these fleeing Kuomintang soldiers, and it is important to escape for their lives!
Here, the author believes that this rich lady who fell into the river to ask for help, at the time of peril, gave up all her dignity and fame, and tried to exchange money and even her body for her own life, but where did she think that when the country was destroyed and the family died, who could still take care of the money and beauty, the behavior of this rich lady was really shocking.
However, one thing is worth wondering, on the eve of the defense of Nanjing, many high-ranking officials and nobles in the city fled from Nanjing with the Nationalist government, and it is really puzzling why this rich lady stayed in the city.
Through this recollection of Taiwanese veterans, I was deeply impressed by two points:
First, after the Japanese army captured Nanjing, it opened the prelude to the Nanjing Massacre, which shows that this was an organized and premeditated massacre, which caused panic among the more than 500,000 soldiers and civilians who remained in Nanjing.
Second, through the tragic experience of this rich lady, I felt how dim and corrupt Nanjing was under the rule of the Nationalist government, and the Nationalist government headed by Chiang Kai-shek only cared about its own escape, which eventually led to more than 300,000 compatriots being brutally slaughtered by the Japanese army.
In short, no matter how beautiful she was before, at the time of the destruction of the country and the death of the family, her fate was already miserable to the point of no one caring, under the atrocities of war and the humiliation of the Japanese army, how many people fell in the streets of Nanjing in 1937?
