According to the news of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the "Xiangyanghong 18" ship recently successfully completed the spring voyage task of "National Natural Science Foundation of China Shared Voyage Plan - 2020 East China Sea Scientific Expedition Experimental Research and Study on the Spatial Distribution of Substratum Acoustic Characteristics of the East China Sea Shelf". The voyage lasted 27 days and had a total range of more than 2,800 nautical miles.

The "Xiangyanghong 18" research vessel in the East China Sea Scientific Expedition in the Spring of 2021 was successfully completed

It is reported that the voyage was organized and implemented by the institute, and a total of 28 scientific expedition members from 12 units such as the Second Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Institute of Oceanography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Ocean University of China participated. Focusing on the research objectives of "environmental changes and ecosystem response processes, characteristics and mechanisms in the coastal shelf of the East China Sea under the dual action of natural processes and human activities" and "study on the spatial distribution law of the acoustic characteristics of the bottom matter of the East China Sea shelf", the voyage carried out multidisciplinary comprehensive investigation and experiments in the east China Sea, such as marine hydrometeorology, marine chemistry, marine life, marine ecology, marine geology, geophysics and seabed acoustic measurement.

The voyage overcame the adverse effects caused by the high pressure of cold air in late spring and Typhoon No. 2, seized the favorable window period through comprehensive meteorological research and judgment, and successfully completed all operational tasks. A total of CTD thermohaline deep profile observation and seawater collection, sediment substrate sampling, sediment acoustic in situ, plankton trawl, sargassum spectroscopy measurement, submersible standard placement, in situ seawater extraction equipment test, drifting water chromatography measurement, shipborne meteorology, voyage spectroscopy and shallow stratigraphic profile have been completed, which provides rich basic information for in-depth study of the material, energy transport and its impact on the marine environment in the East China Sea, as well as the spatial distribution of the acoustic characteristics of the bottom of the East China Sea shelf.
