Spring Festival Family Letter - 1972 Hu Hua: To be a noble and upright person, although bitter and happy

【Original text of family letter】

Hu Ning, An, Jing, Gang, Fang Zhu'er:

All right for you guys!

I set off from Jiangxi on the 9th, and due to the continuous delays in the Spring Festival train and the difficulty of purchasing tickets, I stayed in Hangzhou and Ningbo for one night each, and arrived home at noon on the 12th. It just so happened that Huaqing's cousin also came to Fenghua to visit his relatives, met at the station, had a very happy conversation, stayed at my house for two nights, and this morning he went into his hometown in Lishan. After Grandma fell ill, although She was old, she was still in good spirits, and she could still burn fires and wash dishes in the kitchen, and she was busy day and night. Inside and outside the family, they were taken care of by their aunts running and working. I am more than half a hundred years old, the rest of my life, thirty-four years after leaving my hometown, the first time in my hometown to spend the Spring Festival, I feel very deeply. Looking forward to the party and the country, under the leadership of Chairman Mao and the party Central Committee, we are thriving day by day and have a brighter and brighter future. The defeat and death of Lin Biao on September 13, 1971, (Editor's Note: Referring to the destruction of Lin Biao, his wife Ye Qun, his son Lin Liguo, and others in Mongolia at the Öndur Khan machine in Mongolia) The extreme "Left" trend of thought is crooked and evil, is being attacked, righteousness is rising, the party's cadre policy and intellectual policy are being implemented, the mood is excited, and the revolutionary will is exuberant. Fortunately, his health is getting stronger and stronger, and he can still work for the party for some years, and the party's cadre policy and intellectual policy are convinced that there will always be a day when it will be implemented.

The five of you have fought bravely in your own posts outside, with great hardships and frequent successes, which have also made our elders happy, and you have encouraged each other, and you have gone one step further, cherishing every day, cherishing every step, and striving for progress in the future. Wang Tieren "The north wind is the fan, the snow is fried noodles" (Editor's note: This is a poem written by wang Jinxi, an oil worker, when he developed the Daqing oil field in the winter of 1960. The whole poem reads: "The north wind is a fan, and the snow is fried noodles." Tiannanhai came to the north to fight, vowing to seize the number one large oil field. dry! dry! dry! The spirit of self-denial and self-denial is worth studying well, and being a noble and upright person, though bitter and happy. The arduous tempering experienced in youth is Chairman Mao's intentional cultivation of the next generation, and you must have a good understanding of the hard work of the party and the chairman and not fail to live up to the expectations of the party. In my youth, I went out to make a revolution, did not return for ten years, was in turmoil, was born into death, and in the past ten years, I have eaten rice only once or twice a year with multigrains as the main food and radish and cabbage soup as the side dishes; marching in the dark, braving the wind and snow, and camping in the field. With each passing day, there are high hopes. Make a sentence to remember:

Shihei, E, Ji, and Kyo

A revolution in the west and east, the end of the world misses the moon.

The journey of five or seven must be diligent and cherish the infinite spring in front of you.

1972 Spring Festival

……

I will leave home on the 21st and return to Gan. It is really Lu Xun who "returned home for a long time and left home", (Editor's note: "Returning home" should be "returning home", which is one of the seven-sentence poems created by Lu Xun in 1900, "Don't Be Brothers Three Songs, Gengzi February". The whole poem reads: "I have not been home for a long time and I have left home, and I am very sad at dusk." Ten thousand willow trees in the middle of the road, looking at the broken intestines flowers. His poem "I have a word to remember, and the article is not lost by heaven", (Editor's note: These two poems are also from Lu Xun's "Three Poems of Other Brothers , Gengzi February"). The whole poem reads: "Never a parting and a year, a long wind to send a passenger ship." I have a word to remember, the article is not up to the question. It may also be lent to you. Exclusively

His parents were worried about their only son, who was thousands of miles away, and day and night they were frightened and frightened. Hu Hua went through hardships and dangers to enter the Northern Shaanxi Public School and joined the Communist Party of China in February 1939. It was not until early 1949 that Hu Hua was able to write a letter to get in touch with his family. At that time, he was serving as the leader of the eighth district of North China University in Zhengding, Hebei (which belonged to the Liberated Area of North China), and his parents and sister Hu Yaqing cried with joy when they received the letter, and immediately replied and sent photos. Seeing the haggard and aging face of his mother, whom he had not seen for many years, Hu Hua had mixed feelings and wrote a special poem: "The mother is in the south of the river, looking through the Jinxi River." For ten years, nian's mother's face was destroyed. Dreaming back to the parting day, the mother still shed tears. Will sing the wind, the beginning of the three Spring Hui. ”

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Hu Hua was fighting guerrilla warfare while teaching in the Hengshan Mountains of Northern Yue

In September 1949, Hu Hua returned to his hometown after 11 years of absence and met his parents and relatives who missed him day and night. In early 1951, Hu Hua arranged for his parents to live in Beijing and spend their old age in peace. In 1953, at the age of 66, his father died suddenly due to cerebral hemorrhage.

After the founding of New China, Hu Hua passionately devoted himself to the teaching and research of the history of the Chinese revolution and the history of the Communist Party of China. From 1950 to the early 1960s, he successively served as the deputy director of the Department of Chinese Revolutionary History, the director of the Department of The History of the Communist Party of China, and the director of the Department of Party History of the Communist Party of China at Chinese University. In January 1972, Hu Hua was allowed to return to his hometown of Fenghua during the Spring Festival to visit his mother. This is the first time he spent the Spring Festival in his hometown after 34 years away from his hometown, and he felt very deeply", so he wrote the above family letter to the children. Five children, two in the Heilongjiang Corps, one in Jilin, one in Hubei, one in the Beijing factory, the sky is on different sides. The children had written to him to report that they had been rated with titles such as "advanced worker" and "five good soldiers", and "good news was frequently reported", so as a father, he was naturally very happy. Thinking of his relatives during the festive season, Hu Hua thought of the children of "all the west and the east", and at the same time exhorted them to "take pride in hardships," "self-denial and serve the public," "be a noble and upright person," "cherish the infinite spring in front of you," and so on. Under the cultivation of the party and the education and encouragement of Hu Hua, his five children have worked hard to forge ahead, successively obtaining university or college degrees, intermediate or senior titles, and quietly dedicating themselves to their respective posts.

In 1972, Hu Hua was appointed to return to Beijing as an advisor to the Museum of the Chinese Revolution. After the re-establishment of Chinese Min University in 1978, he successively served as the director and honorary director of the Department of Party History of the Communist Party of China, the doctoral supervisor, the member of the Party History Materials Collection Committee of the CPC Central Committee, the member of the Disciplinary Review Group of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, the convener of the Political Science Group, the executive director of the Chinese Historical Society, the editorial board of the History of the Encyclopedia of China, the vice president of the Beijing Historical Society, and successively served as a representative of the Seventh and Eighth People's Congresses of Beijing Municipality.
