Mao Zedong met with Jiang Qing's ex-husband, Donner, and said something profound

author:Read the city

In the 1930s, Jiang Qing, who became popular in the film and drama industry on the beach under the stage name of "Lan Ping", once had a tortuous marriage and love entanglement with the talented and sentimental famous film critic Donner (formerly known as Ma Jiliang). This "Tang Lan marriage change" has been a sensation and has been widely known, but there are not many people who know the inside story of Donner's life after the marriage change.

Mao Zedong met with Jiang Qing's ex-husband, Donner, and said something profound

When Jiang Qing was in Shanghai, he took a group photo with Donner (first from right) and Jinshan.

When he was trapped, Jiang Qing received help

After the Lugou Bridge Incident broke out in July 1937, Lan Ping, who was in despair, decided to leave Shanghai and go to northern Shaanxi.

When entering Yan'an, Lan Ping changed her name to Jiang Qing. She is a woman who is unstable and restless, and she is also a woman who works hard. She once said to others such a "famous saying": "Men think of women, across the mountain; women think of men, partition boards." "Almost every time she falls in love, it is to achieve her own specific purpose.

When she was making a lot of noise in Shanghai and had to leave Yan'an, it coincided with a misunderstanding between He Zizhen and Mao Zedong and left Yan'an for treatment in the Soviet Union. This gave Jiang Qing a rare opportunity to take advantage of the opportunity, and within a year, she fell in love with Mao Zedong and married in November 1938.

When Jiang Qing left the bright and green Shanghai, Donner became a war correspondent for the Ta Kung Pao. At a time when the anti-Japanese flames were igniting, he conducted arduous interviews along the Shanghai-Hangzhou Line and published many field communications under the pseudonym "Luo Ping".

In 1936, Jiang Qing and others held a group wedding under the Liuhe Pagoda. From the left in the front row are Ye Luxi, Zhao Dan, Lan Ping (Jiang Qing), Tang Na, Du Xiaojuan, and Gu Yi, and the back row is Zheng Junli, Shen Junru, and Li Qing.

In December 1937, Nanjing fell into the hands of the Japanese army, and the Nationalist government moved the capital to Chongqing. Donner also arrived in Wuhan with the flow of people who moved inland. Seeing the scene of the stars of the Shanghai film and drama circles gathering in Wuhan at that time, he proposed to organize a "Dagong Theater Troupe" attached to the Ta Kung Pao. Because Donner has been working in the film and drama industry for many years, he is familiar with people and has organizational skills, so his initiative was quickly warmly responded to by everyone, and the "Grand Duke Theater Troupe" was quickly established. Directors Zheng Junli, Ying Yunwei and actors Zhao Dan, Bai Yang, Jin Shan, Gu And others all became members of the troupe.

In the summer of 1938, Donner wrote the anti-Japanese drama "Long Live China", directed by Ying Yunwei, and received praise from all walks of life after the performance. At this time, he fell in love with the drama actress Chen Lu. In October of the same year, they returned to Shanghai via Hong Kong and soon gave birth to a son.

Although Donna and Chen Lu were combined, they still had a longing for Lan Ping. He gave Chen Lu a stage name called "Hongye", which is said to be in opposition to "Lan Ping"; he also wrote a lyric called "A Thousand Miles Kiss yiren", which is also said to have been written for Lan Ping.

In December 1942, after the outbreak of the Pacific War, Donner left Shanghai for Chongqing. Chen Lu and their son stayed in Shanghai, and Chen Lu later remarried to a salt merchant.

After Tang Na arrived in Chongqing, he worked at the China Drama Art Society in Ying Yunwei and barely had a bowl of rice to eat. However, due to the dissolution of the drama club, Donner was once unemployed and trapped in hardship. His state of mind was extremely depressed, and he attempted suicide again and attempted suicide.

At this time, Jiang Qing, who was in Yan'an, did not know how to find out that Tang Na was in poverty, so he sent 10 yuan a month from the Yan'an trustees to help him. Whenever he received this money, Donna would first draw 1 yuan from it, and gather with other poor friends to "beat the teeth", and Quan Dang would foam at each other in difficulties and make fun of them in pain.

In 1944, Donner established the "China Amateur Drama Society" in Chongqing, with himself as its president and Feng Yi as its vice president. After the establishment of the drama club, it was quickly dissolved due to poor attendance, and Donner was trapped again. It was not until the eve of the victory of the War of Resistance that Donner found a satisfactory job with his fluent English. He was hired by the British Embassy in China to work in the press office of the embassy, which was freed from hardship.

On August 28, 1945, Mao Zedong went to Chongqing for negotiations at the invitation of Chiang Kai-shek's three power generations. A few days later, Jiang Qing also asked to go to Chongqing for treatment under the pretext of "toothache".

Mao Zedong initially disapproved of Jiang Qing's visit. At Jiang Qing's repeated requests, although he reluctantly agreed, he agreed to a condition, that is, Jiang Qing would not be allowed to appear in public in Chongqing.

Refused to see Jiang Qing but met Mao Zedong

Not allowing Jiang Qing to appear in public to participate in political activities was Mao Zedong's consistent stand. In early July of that year, when six political participants from the China Democratic League and the Kuomintang visited Yan'an, Zuo Shunsheng, one of the leaders of the Chinese Youth Party, made a request to Mao Zedong to meet Jiang Qing, but Mao Zedong immediately refused. Zuo Shunsheng felt "regret" about this, and in the article "Remembering the Journey of the Democratic Political League League in Yan'an" written after returning from Yan'an, he wrote: "I originally proposed to Mao Zedong that I wanted to meet his Lan Ping, but Mao said that she was sick and could not meet guests. On July 5, when we left Yan'an, Mao came with a seven- or eight-year-old daughter to send us, two lively and beautiful eyes, which looked a bit like the blue apple I had seen once before the war, but the blue apple himself still did not come. 'Qu finally disappeared, and there were several peaks on the river', when our plane took off, I still felt that this was a little regret of this trip. ”

The "seven- or eight-year-old daughter" mentioned by Zuo Shunsheng above was indeed born to Mao Zedong and Jiang Qing, but was actually only 5 years old at the time. Mao Zedong took his daughter to send off the guests without allowing Jiang Qing to appear in public, probably because he did not want Zuo Shunsheng to publicize his marriage to Jiang Qing after returning to Chongqing.

After arriving in Chongqing, Jiang Qing did not stay with Mao Zedong, but lived with his daughter Li Ne in Zhang Zhizhong's Guiyuan Garden. At this time, Jiang Qing was very excited, especially when she heard one of Zhang Zhizhong's internal servants say a praise that "she is more beautiful than Song Meiling", and she was even more excited for several days. But unfortunately, she could not appear in various public places like Song Meiling, and she could not show her style in front of the camera lenses of reporters.

Jiang Qing did not understand why Mao Zedong did not allow her to appear in public, but after all, she was a woman with a strong sense of competitiveness and a desire to show off, and when it was difficult to appear publicly, she quietly carried Mao Zedong behind her back and called to secretly meet Donner. Unexpectedly, Jiang Qing did not get his wish. Perhaps she did not know that at this time, Donner had not only been freed from the difficulties of life, but also had another love emotionally. According to Tang Na's later telling people, when Jiang Qing secretly met him, his old feelings for Jiang Qing were "already a hundred years old"; moreover, Jiang Qing's status was no longer what it used to be, and seeing her would cause trouble.

However, although Donner refused to see Jiang Qing, he unexpectedly met Mao Zedong, and Mao Zedong also said a word to him. It was the only brief meeting donald had with Mao Zedong in his life, and he still remembers the scene decades later.

Jiang Qing in the Shanghai period

On the afternoon of September 29, 1984, When Donner, who lived in Paris, talked with an old friend who was visiting from Taiwan, he once said: "In the year that Mao Zedong came to Chongqing, I was still in Chongqing. One day, I received an invitation from Zhang Zhizhong (who was then the political minister) to a cocktail party at his house, stating that he was welcoming Mao Zedong. I was very strange at the time, why did I have it? Although I may watch a play after a cocktail party, I am watching a 'flat drama' and not a drama, and in any case, it is not my turn! But I also went with a sense of curiosity. When the master introduced me to Mao Zedong, he said, 'This is the Donner of that year!' Mao Zedong looked surprised, clasped my hands and stared at my eyes widely, saying: 'Harmony is precious!' Because I didn't know his intentions, I passed by. ”

It is not known whether the invitation of Donner to a cocktail party to welcome Mao Zedong was deliberately arranged. And even for the person in question, Donner, he doesn't understand "why I am." He went to see Mao Zedong because he was "curious" and had an invitation. Mao Zedong's short words not only made him slightly flustered and embarrassed, but also left him with another more difficult "curiosity".

In fact, Mao Zedong's phrase "peace is precious" can be described as a pun on family affairs and state affairs, which not only shows the wit and humor of his sudden encounter with Donner, but also shows that he knows about Jiang Qing's previous marriage.

After breaking up with Chen Lu, Donna remained celibate for several years and was busy writing. In the first half of 1945, he fell in love with actress Kang Jian after Lan Ping and Chen Lu. They fought fiercely in Chongqing for a time, but after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, they somehow broke up again.

Feelings have a destination

Shortly after the victory of the War of Resistance, Donner returned to Shanghai. At the invitation of Xu Zhucheng, editor-in-chief of Wen Wei Po and friend, he resigned from the press office of the British Embassy in China and became the deputy editor-in-chief of Wen Wei Po.

In August 1947, U.S. Special Envoy Weidmeier held a press conference in Shanghai, and Donner was invited to attend. At that time, a female reporter from the Liberty Tribune caught his eye and made him fall in love. The female reporter was Chen Runqiong, the third daughter of Chen Ling, a former ambassador of the National Government to France, who spoke fluent English, french was also very pure, spoke extraordinary, and behaved in a dignified manner.

Donner fell in love with Chen Runqiong at first sight, but Chen Runqiong did not respond quickly. So Donner began a desperate and crazy pursuit. In 1949, Chen Runqiong went to Hong Kong to work, and Donner was also transferred to serve as the deputy editor-in-chief of Wen Wei Po in Hong Kong; in February 1949, Chen Runqiong went to the United States to work at the United Nations, and Donner also followed him to the United States. He worked for the New York Daily and then at a United Nations Chinese printing house; in 1951, When Chen Traveled to Paris, Downer followed him.

On December 23, 1952, Donner married Chen Runqiong

Donna followed the shadow, staring intently, and every day he presented Chen Runqiong with a bouquet of flowers, and at the same time sent a love letter written with a fly head and a small letter.

This infatuation deeply touched Chen Runqiong. Gradually, she discovered that Donner was not only talented, but also kind and affectionate. In 1951, Chen Runqiong finally agreed to Donner's courtship request, and the two married in Paris. Since then, Donner's feelings have finally had a real home.

In Paris, the two journalists abandoned their writings to pursue business and opened a restaurant. From the initial "Ming Ming Hotel", to the later "Jinghua Hotel", and then to the "Tianqiao Hotel", the business is becoming more and more prosperous, and it is becoming more and more prosperous.

After Tang Na and Chen Runqiong got married, they had a daughter named Ma Yihua, whose meaning was self-evident, but the meaning of missing the homeland.

Donner, who has always attached great importance to feelings, is not only obsessed with the person he loves, but also has a deep affection for the motherland that gave birth to him. The reason why he later left Shanghai and went overseas was related to his love for Ms. Chen Runqiong on the one hand, and on the other hand, there was also an unspeakable hidden intention.

In a letter that Donner wrote from Hong Kong to Zheng Junli in Shanghai in early February 1949, this hidden intention was very clear: "The mainland is about to be liberated and our wishes have been realized, and the colleagues of Wen Wei Po are all 'young people who return to their hometowns', but I cannot return to Shanghai." During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Ah Ping secretly went to Chongqing to treat his teeth, and also called me to meet at the 'Kaige Gui' restaurant, but I categorically refused. In my case, it's been a hundred... The day before yesterday, I made a prediction, and the fortune teller said that I was 'reliving my dreams, and the fierceness is more auspicious and less auspicious'. I believed in him, I was very much in love with him now, no one loved Ah Ping more than I did, I had almost committed suicide for her escape; no one knew her better than I did, she was fierce, she could do anything.

Farewell to the motherland, goodbye to Shanghai, goodbye to youth, goodbye to friends... 'Ask the jun how sad he can be, just like a river of spring water flowing east'. ”

It was a letter written with tears in it, and it was undoubtedly Donner's heartfelt words. As expected, after Jiang Qing ascended to the throne of the "standard-bearer" of the "Cultural Revolution," Donner's close friends Zheng Junli, Zhao Dan, and others were ruthlessly persecuted. And Donner was fortunate that he was far overseas, and the "standard-bearer" whip was beyond his reach, which saved him from poisonous hands.

In December 1978, Ye Jianying met with Overseas Chinese in France In Beijing (third from left), accompanied by Luo Qingchang (first from right), Ye Xuanning (second from left), and Ye Xuanji (first from left).

It was not until the end of the "Cultural Revolution" that Donner was able to return to Chinese mainland many times, revisited Shanghai several times, and thought about the past and sighed with emotion. However, every time he returned, his whereabouts were secret, he did not appear in public, and was limited to visiting a few close friends of the year.

Because of the relationship that Donner and Lan Ping once had, Donner, who lives in Paris, often encounters uninvited guests. Even Vitex, an American writer who was once regarded by Jiang Qing as her own "Snow" and who was instructed by Jiang Qing to set up a biography for her, after learning the news that Donner was buried in Paris, could not suppress the curiosity and passion in his heart, and specially went to visit the door twice, and offered to cooperate with him to write Jiang Qing for 200,000 to 300,000 US dollars. But Whitaker's request was firmly rejected by Donner.

An overseas newspaper once published news that in order to attract customers, Donner had held a photo exhibition of Jiang Qing on the second floor of the hotel he opened. Donner flatly denies it. He said frankly: "Not only do I, as a person, not only do I not remember the old evil, but once I break off my friendship, I will not make a bad sound!" ”

In his later years, Donner planned to write an autobiography, for which he asked people to find the long letter he had written to Jiang Qing in Jinan that year, and the two letters that Jiang Qing had written to him at that time, looking for reports from various newspapers that year. However, although he raised his pen several times, he was plagued by illness when he failed to write this autobiography. Donner died of lung cancer in Paris in 1988 at the age of 74.
