Hubei: Direct sewage discharge! The number of benthic species in Honghu Lake decreased by three-quarters

Honghu Lake is one of the most representative lakes, wetlands and biodiversity areas in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Chongqing: Illegally occupying the shoreline of rivers and lakes and discharging wastewater directly into the first-class tributaries of the Yangtze River

The Central Ecological and Environmental Protection Supervision Group inspected Chongqing Municipality and found that Yunyang County and Fengjie County did not protect the Yangtze River shoreline effectively, illegally built wharves, indiscriminately occupied, abused, extensive and inefficient use of the Yangtze River shoreline resources, and squeezed out the natural ecological space. The Liangshuijing sand and gravel yard in Yunyang County occupies nearly 20 acres of tidal flats, and the inspection team photographed the illegal discharge of production wastewater directly into the Tangxi River, a first-class tributary of the Yangtze River, through aerial photography equipment at the scene. In addition, Fengjie County has piled up a large number of construction materials, sand and gravel, building materials, etc. in the open air on the right bank of the Zhuyi River, and has not taken any pollution prevention and environmental risk prevention measures. The project occupies a total of 4.9 acres of mangrove land, destroys more than 6,500 mangroves, and damages the stability and integrity of the mangrove ecosystem. In addition, in the process of building a tourism and vacation project on Qingshan Island in Dongtou District, Wenzhou, 14 acres of sea area were illegally occupied without approval, which lasted for 4 years.

Hunan: The resurgence of illegal planting! The ecology of the Dongting Lake wetland is at risk of deterioration

The Central Ecological and Environmental Protection Supervision Group inspected Hunan Province and found that the ecological and environmental protection responsibilities of Yiyang, Changde, Yueyang and other cities around Dongting Lake were not implemented effectively, the ecological damage of Dongting Lake wetland was prominent, and the wetland ecology was at risk of deterioration. The inspection team found that in some areas of the South Dongting Lake Provincial Nature Reserve, the local water conservancy department leased 21,000 acres of the retreat area of European and American black poplar that should have been carried out ecological restoration to individuals, and used it for planting maple poplars, dry willows and other forest trees in violation of regulations, and the illegal planting resurgence. In addition, the local water conservancy department violated the approval regulations, and the Lishui Estuary Wetland Reserve still illegally mined sand, and as of the time the inspection team was stationed, 1.24 million tons of sand were illegally mined, seriously damaging the ecological environment of the Lishui Estuary Wetland Reserve.
