During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, in order to improve the quality of life of the disabled, liberate the labor force of the disabled families, promote the participation of the disabled in social life, and share the fruits of reform and development, the Honggu District Disabled Persons' Federation implemented the Central Lottery Community Chest - the barrier-free renovation project for families with severe disabilities, which has achieved good social effects and has been well received by the majority of disabled people and their families.
The barrier-free renovation of families with severe disabilities is a one-household-one-policy project tailored to the disability category, physical condition, actual living needs of the disabled and the characteristics of the disabled family. From 2021 to 2023, Honggu District has provided a total of 349 households with disabilities with barrier-free home access. In 2024, the provincial and municipal governments will list the barrier-free renovation project for families with severe disabilities as one of the practical things for the people, and assign 57 households to Honggu District to renovate the task.
In 2023, barrier-free renovation will be implemented for Zhang Xiang's house in Ping'an Town, and the toilets, handrails, grab bars, water heaters, and low-level or movable shower devices will be installed for it, which will greatly facilitate the daily life of Zhang Xiang and his family members such as bathing and toileting.
In 2024, a guardrail will be installed for Zhou Xiang and Luo Yugui's house, and after the guardrail is installed, Zhou Xiang and Luo Yugui said to us: "This guardrail is too affordable for us, it was inconvenient for us to go up and down the steps before, thank you very much to the government and the Disabled Persons' Federation for taking care of us, through the barrier-free renovation of our home, it has brought us great convenience in access, and we are no longer afraid of falling down the steps, and it is very convenient to go to the bathroom with the handrail in the middle of the night." ”
The Honggu District Disabled Persons' Federation combines the characteristics of disabled families and itself to tailor a home barrier-free renovation plan that meets the needs. Before the renovation, the town (street) Disabled Persons' Federation and the village (community) special committee will conduct a comprehensive survey of the disabled families with barrier-free renovation needs, summarize the basic information and renovation content of the barrier-free renovation families, and report to the District Disabled Persons' Federation for review. After reviewing and summarizing the barrier-free renovation of families with severe disabilities reported by each town (street) Disabled Persons' Federation, the District Disabled Persons' Federation will organize each town (street) Disabled Persons' Federation and village (community) special committee to conduct house-to-house verification, solicit the opinions of family members of persons with disabilities, make a final confirmation of the content of the transformation, and try to meet their actual needs on the premise of complying with the policy. During the implementation of the project, the wishes of the families of the disabled are fully respected, so that the disabled friends can fully feel the convenience brought to them through barrier-free transformation.
