On May 6, Shangcheng County held an event to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the victory of the Shangcheng Uprising.
More than 200 people, including retired army leaders, relatives of generals from Shangcheng, relatives of revolutionary predecessors who fought and worked in Shangcheng, representatives of the bereaved families and martyrs of the Red Army, responsible comrades of relevant units of the central government, provinces and cities, and cadres and masses of Shangcheng County, attended the commemorative activities.
At about 8 o'clock in the morning, a commemorative ceremony was held in the Shangcheng County Martyrs Cemetery, and the masses, students, soldiers and other people from all walks of life presented flower baskets to the martyrs' monument, collectively mourned in silence and visited the Shangcheng County Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall. At the forum that followed, representatives of the revolutionary martyrs and the relatives of the revolutionary predecessors who fought and worked in the mall spoke one after another. In the afternoon, some participants visited the development achievements of the mall in the new era and experienced the new achievements of the economic and social development of the mall county up close.
95 years ago, under the leadership of the CPC Shang (Cheng) Luo (Tian) Ma (Cheng) Special District Committee, Communist Party member Zhou Weijiong and others led the mall uprising that shocked the whole country. The rolling thunder of the Mall Uprising resounded through the land of Shangnan and resounded through the clouds of Dabie, which was a large-scale armed uprising in the Dabie Mountains, together with the "Jute Uprising" and "Liuhuo Uprising", and called the three major uprisings led by the Communist Party of China in Hubei, Henan and Anhui during the Agrarian Revolutionary War.
Its success destroyed the reactionary rule and feudal forces in this region, gave birth to the 32nd Division of the 11th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, the first workers' and peasants' Red Army in Henan Province, established the first county-level Soviet power in Henan Province to be established in the county seat, and created the first revolutionary base area in Henan Province, the southeastern Henan revolutionary base area, laid a solid foundation for the creation and development of the Hubei-Henan-Anhui revolutionary base area, and provided our party with "the countryside surrounding the city and seizing power by armed force" The formation of the strategy has accumulated valuable experience and left a strong mark in the history of the revolution on the mainland.
