After entering the Hexi Corridor from east to west, there is a small place that cannot be ignored, which is Jingtai County. Jingtai is the gateway to the eastern end of the Hexi Corridor, bordering the Yellow River to the east and Jingyuan County and Pingchuan District, baiyin District, Gaolan County and Yongdeng County to the south, and Tianzhu Tibetan Autonomous County and Gulang County to the west. Since ancient times, it has belonged to the border town. "Its land Jie Rong Xia", in order to strangle the throat, east of Lujing, west of Zhuangliang, south of Gaolan, north of Sha Moraine, has the strategic position of "one of the towns of Longyouxiong". From this, there is the ancient city of Yongtai, and there is another Yellow River Stone Forest facing it from east to west, and it is not an exaggeration to call it the first landscape of the Hexi Corridor.

When it comes to stone forests, people will always think of the beautiful legends of Lunan Stone Forest and "Ashima" in Yunnan, but for the rough men in the north, the Yellow River Stone Forest can be described as the culmination of absorbing the essence of heaven and earth, and the endless earth yellow shows a thrilling wild energy, which is a requiem that lingers on the tip of the heart.

Yongtai Ancient City is located in the northern foothills of Tiger Mountain in Sitan Township, southwest of Jingtai County, not far from the county seat. Following the navigation map, we managed to find the right direction, and although some places were sandy roads, most of them were asphalt roads that stretched to the gates of the ancient city.
Built in the 36th year of the Ming Dynasty (1608), the ancient city of Yongtai, which has a history of more than 400 years, was a military fortress built by the Ming government to defend against the invasion of ethnic minorities in the north, and the General of Lanzhou was stationed in this castle. At that time, there were more than 2,000 soldiers stationed in the city, and there were gunpowder farms, grass fields, mills, horse farms and other institutions attached to the city, and Yongtai City had an important strategic position in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and the famous Qing Dynasty general Yue Zhongqi's ancestral mansion was also among them.
If you want to take a picture of the ancient city, in addition to using a drone, you can go to the southern slope of the mountain that is slightly farther away from Yongtai City. From a high place, Yongtai City really resembles a giant turtle creeping in. From here, it can also be clearly seen that the original moat outside Yongtai City is now no longer in the river, but its shape is still clear and recognizable. In the depths of the Gobi directly north of Yongtai City, there is also a series of beacon towers, which are about 22 kilometers apart. Later, we learned that these beacon towers led all the way to the Red Water Fort where "Matsuyama New Side" passed.

The county government guest house "Jingtai Hotel" is a three-star hotel, the environment is better, parking in the courtyard is very convenient, but parking is charged separately. Yongtai City and the Bian Bund are the only two places to spend the night with peasant families.

Jingtai is an agricultural county mainly inhabited by Han Chinese, and the restaurants are mainly noodles, of course, there are stir-fried vegetables and rice, and the price is cheap. There are some halal restaurants along the road or in villages and towns, and those who love noodles and can eat beef and mutton can choose from. Local snacks include oil-soaked cured meat, gray bean noodles (lentil noodles), sour rotten meat (sauerkraut vermicelli meat), grits rice, five Buddha old tofu, five Buddha cheek noodles, longwan inch noodles. Specialties include hair vegetables, desert melon, Longwan jujube, Longwan red Fuji, Yellow River carp and so on.
